UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen will not be meeting with the Nevada State Athletic Commission in May as originally planned. He instead finds himself under suspension again in California and will appear before the state’s athletic commission next week to appeal its recent decision.
Sonnen had been trying to regain his license to fight again in Nevada, thinking his time had been served in California.
When asked about Sonnen’s current status in Nevada, NSAC executive director Keith Kizer, in an e-mail response, directed MMAWeekly.com to the California State Athletic Commission.

Sonnen needs to make that comeback! With all this injury business, Uncle Chael seems to be the only one who could distract/entertain me. It's slow goings with only one major event a month...

this is bogus. his legal issues in his personal life should have no impact on his license. The man did the time the CSAC suspended him for and now they are giving him more crap. The athletic commissions have a personal vendetta plain and simple.

What do you expect? Wouldn't be surprised if Sonnen managed to piss someone off at the athletic commission.

He was convicted of a felony. He might not like it but this will affect him for the rest of his life in everything he does. Also if they feel he gave false testimony then it would invalidate their ruling.

Some interesting things in this article.
Dodd stated that Sonnen’s current administrative suspension is due to two factors, which the Team Quest fighter will respond to when he meets with the commission on May 18. “It’s based off two things. One, his pleading guilty to his felony conviction up in Oregon, as well as possibly providing false testimony during his hearing back in December.”
The suspension is indefinite until he shows up at the hearing, upon which it sounds like the suspension will be lifted unless Sonnen doesn't give satisfactory answers again.
Dodd did not provide details of the alleged false testimony, but it likely stems from a statement Sonnen made during his original testimony with the California State Athletic Commission in December, when he referenced a conversation he stated he had with Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer about his testosterone therapy. Later in his testimony, Sonnen clarified that it was actually his coach, Matt Lindland, that spoke to Kizer and not him directly, but the original statement has been bandied about in reports and may have caused some of Sonnen’s recent problems in gaining re-licensure in Nevada.
They are giving him a pretty rough time over a false statment that was subsequently fixed within the same testimony.
Sonnen is up to his eyeballs in BS right now, and it is pretty obvious that there are strong forces within MMA that want to get him out of the picture, and Dana isn't exactly defending him.
What he needs to do now is to stop lying about everything and shut his mouth for once in his life, listen to the questions asked, and answer them truthfully.
If he is smart, May 18 he will walk into the hearing and come clean on everything the commission asks him, whether it's about steroids, his felony, or any other dealings he may have going on. Anything except the unequivocal truth is going to be used as a pretext to bring the pain. If Sonnen messes up this hearing, don't expect him back anytime soon.
---Fun Fact: 90% of all mma-related legal cases somehow involve Matt "The Law" Lindland.
