May 6, 2011 - According to a press release, former IBF super-middleweight champion Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy has formally agreed to face Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz in a professional boxing bout. There is no word on whether or not Diaz will agree to the bout or which weight class this fight will be contested at should it be made.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that Nick (in his own mind) probably thinks he can go ahead, do this boxing match and then come right back to challenge GSP. If so, prepare for all that trash talk between Dana & Nick when Dana makes a statement "If Nick boxes, he will never be allowed back into the UFC"

I would also like to state that Jeff Lacy is washed up. The boxing match is actually pretty interesting because Nick does have a good chance at being succesful in that match up.

A "washed up" Jeff Lacy is probably still a 100% better boxer than Diaz.

Just a couple of years ago a "washed up" Ray Mercer KOed Tim Sylvia in 9 seconds...that being said I'm sure Nick is a better boxer than Tim but he's not a full time boxer either. I will be watching this fight for sure.

Im sure Andre Ward is quite helpful. Not sure how true this may be but Nick stated he has been sparring with Ward since he was 18..??

Lacy hasn't actually "WON" a fight since 2006, he has barely gotten by a few "novice" boxers in the last couple years. With all injuries, surguries and all the drama going on with his family (something you may not be aware but google Hydra Lacy Jr. for specifics), Lacy is not physically and no way he could be mentally in the posistion to overwhelm Nick.

Lacy was close to his brother, and this ended up causing high racial tension in the area. I was st.pete about 3 blocks away, when a teenage boy killed yet another officer which sparked more tension for Lacy and his family.

if Lacey takes this fight he will earn an early KO IMO. Diaz is a badass but if he pulls his taunts in the face of a pro boxer I'm pretty sure he will be repayed via KO.....good luck Nick

I'll say Diaz lasts about 4 rounds. Depends how many round their fighting I might give Diaz a chance to go the distance. Hopefully it's only like 4-6 rounder at the most because I'd hate to see Diaz embarrassed to bad especially by a brutal KO.

The article you're responding to is titled "Jeff Lacey Signs Agreement to Face Nick Diaz in Boxing Bout". What do you mean "if Lacey takes this fight"?

People really need to start reading the articles before they comment. Or at least the headlines.

Diaz has got this

Plus who knows, Lacey signed, not Diaz. Nick could just use this as a bargaining chip to get the GSP fight. He seemed to want that fight after 129. I say Nick goes where the most $ is.
