A middleweight bout between Brazilian UFC vets Rousimar Palhares (12-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Alexandre Ferreira (18-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been targeted for UFC 134.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that verbal agreements are in place for the bout, though contracts have yet to be signed. Brazilian website Portal do Vale Tudo first reported the matchup.

UFC 134, first announced as "UFC: Rio," takes place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro and is expected to feature a middleweight title fight between reigning champ Anderson Silva and challenger Yushin Okami.

Just beat me to it.

EDIT: Oh, and I think Palhares will take this fight pretty easily. Ferreire is dangerous on the ground, there is certainly a chance that he could catch Palhares. But, I just think Palhares is on another level with his BJJ.

This is the next best thing to Palhares vs Maia. I think you're right though. Ferreire is extremely good on the ground but he's shown me nothing to think he'll be able to beat Palhares.

Ferreire could surprise people here... But I'm picking Palhares.

I would've been more excited for Palhares vs Maia or... Palhares vs Sonnen

Both of these guys are like sawed off shotguns.....short and huge.....interestingly, it will be Alexandre Ferreira first fight @ 185.......I see this fight playing out like the Paul Harris v Branch fight.
