Will Jardine find more success at 185-pounds? Or is it too little too late?

Heavyweight to Light Heavyweight to Middleweight? Whatever floats his boat, I guess. There are still some dangerous strikers in the Middleweight division if that is in fact what he's trying to get away from.
Lawler vs. Jardine anyone?

Yea dropping to MW is probably a good move by Jardine but the problem is the drop isn't going to help his chin.

What if he beats Gegard, than Jardine may not be the number 1 contender, but this bout was supposed to determine the next title fight as far as I have heard. Announcing the move now seems like he plans on losing and going to mw- which is problly better because the Dean has always had some extra fat he could rid himself of, and he has a good chin, but not good enough for the slledgehammers that get thrown in the lhw divisision.
MW has a few SF fighters that would match up well vs Jardine like Manhoef Lawler Mayhem I have no idea how well Jardine will do at mw, cutting weight is different for everyone, if it was simple for him, i imagine he would already be a mw though.

i thought about this after his loss to Bader. he never really could utilize a wrestling gameplan in the UFC against guys like Bader, Hamill and Rampage (as well as getting KO'd in under 60 seconds), but maybe this is his chance? I thought he should have been more wrestling oriented against Prangley. as a big Jardine fan i like this idea of him cutting down to 185. some interesting matchups at SF MW for Jardine:
Mayhem Le Prangley rematch (should be fighting MW imo) Jacare (potential) Kennedy Lawlor Smith
in the UFC: Bisping Maia Santiago Leben Akiyama Dan Miller Jason Macdonald Palharis Dolloway

Perfect. That explains it perfectly. He's getting there, when he is 155 then it will be complete and he will be starring in the remake of Master's of the Universe.
