I think this is pretty accurate , although May7waether might survive the till the later in the first. It might take Sherk that long to catch him.
Sean Sherk Candidly Responds To Floyd Mayweather MMANEWS.COM
Source:
RandomSpeak.com sent along the following:
RandomSpeak.com: Floyd Mayweather, Jr. came out the last couple weeks completely bashing the UFC and stating that any boxer would demolish a UFC fighter in the cage. Dana White (UFC President) came back at Mayweather and named you as the guy who he'd put Mayweather up against, and that you would handle him no problem. What are your thoughts on the whole situation?
Sean Sherk: Well, you know honestly in a boxing match, of course he'd beat me in a boxing match. In an MMA fight, he would be in for a beating. I mean, he's not going to knock me out with one punch; I've got a hard head and have been boxing for 13 years so it's not like I don't know how to box. So, he'd have to land a lot of punches to stop me from taking him down, and me being one of the best wrestlers in the sport, there's no way he could stop me from taking him down.
I don't think that fight would last longer than a minute, to be honest with you. And I don't think he should be talking about something that he can't back up, because I'll fight him tomorrow. I literally would, if they called and asked me to fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr. tomorrow, it's done. He's not going to fight me though, and he's just running his mouth. I don't really respect that a whole lot.

mayweather ftw, floyd with 4oz gloves equals instant knockout.. sherk would get hit with like 5 or 6 shots on the way in, floyds way too quick
i still stand by what i said, that to beat mayweather u need a tall lightweight with long legs to stay outside the reach of mayweather and barrage his lead foot with kicks. then try the take down when he lowers his arms annd finish with gnp

It'd be so awesome if this happened. I know it is a longshot, but if Mayweather got real riled up and was trying to prove boxing to be better than MMA so he signed Sherk in a MMA fight... murder. Sherk would be all over him.

People have argued the same thing about Stephen Leko, Schilt, Hunt, Lebanner, Pulver, and some other boxing/kickboxing guys who made the crossover.
Would a rugby player step on to an NFL field and dominate NFL players? i highly doubt it

That's a good point... Leko's one of the hardest punchers in K-1, and he couldn't make a dent in MMA... There is just too much to worry about, as appose to boxing, where you only have to defend your head and body. Which isn't easy by any means, but to have to worry about TD's, knees, kicks, and dirty boxing in the clinch would IMO be overwhelming for any boxer.
I think PBF is probably the best P4P boxer that I have ever seen fight... He completely outclasses (skillwise) any fighter that's stood in front of him... But to step in a cage with a grappler like Sherk, just wouldn't be a good idea for any lightweight boxer no matter how tough they are.
It's too bad that one guy could run his mouth (with I believe no intention of backing it up), and have us all talking about his inferior sport on a great MMA board like this

I would love to see Melvin Guillard V. Mayweather. Sherk is way better, but Guillard's ego vs. Mayweather's would be a spectacle to say the least. I'm pretty sure Guillard would kill him too.

just a slight difference - all the listed about kickboxers are heavyweights.. (sans pulver, who i also think mayweather will defeat easily) where they focus on power, and not as much on speed. yeah leko pretty much stunk it up in MMA i agree with you there..
i'd just like to see the match to be honest.

I agree, I would love to see that fight. I don't think Mayweather would have many porblems against a striker but Sherk would cause alot of problems for Mayweather

A boxer will have problems with any trained MMA fighter. Mayweather can have all the speed he wants. What happens if he does rock Sherk on the way in and SHerk gets the clinch and takes him to the cage and gets time to recover. the ref wont break it up. Weve seen that happen before. Sherk is used to getting hit with 4oz gloves. You either have a good chin or you dont. There is no, a guy switches combat sports and gets insant KOs.

Sherk would kill Mayweather. What would Mayweather do to stop Sherks takedowns?? Sherk would toss him around like a ragdoll.

Mayweather seems to think he can try to stop a double leg wrestling takedown with a ko punch. There's a lot of ways for a guy like Sherk to take him down or tie him up. The clinch is something he's never had to worry about nevermind judo throws, pulling guard... the list just goes on. Sherk could do a throw he's never try against a cross trained guy a prob'ly pull it off like he was teaching a class. My big question is would Mayweather cry?

You are giving Mayweather far too much credit...he doesn't crosstrain. Sherk could shoot from 10 feet away on a pure boxer and take him down without any problem. Just ask Art Jimmerson.
