Former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin, who was kicked out of the 185-pound division by the seemingly invincible Anderson Silva, talks to the Springfield News-Sun about the meteoric rise of new Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, who just so happens to rule the weight class Franklin now calls home. "Ace" is just as enamored with the rise of "Bones" as the rest of the mixed martial arts community but his competitive spirit also wonders how he might fare in a 205-pound throwdown.

I think this would be a horrible idea for Rich. Jones is way faster, has much better wrestling, and would kill him in the stand up. Rich is still a great fight but this would be as disaster fight for him.

He'll pretty much be gauging how long it'd take for him to get KO'd and he knows that.

Dear Rich,

See Fight #1 with Anderson Silva. Substitute knee with elbows from hell.

Signed,
Fleek

I'm going to give some credit to Franklin. Most fighters in his position wouldn't dare say something like that. I like that as a fighter, he's already pitting himself up against Jones in head, and to me it shows how strong he is mentally.

Kinda pointless comment to make by Rich considering he's nowhere near the top of the pecking order coming off of a loss to Forrest Griffin.

I don't normally utilize "MMAth" as I belive it's called, but look at Franklin-Griffin. Griffin put a pretty good hurting on "Ace". Griffin is a big LHW. Jones is a bigger LHW. Griffin essentially ducked Jones already. Yet Franklin wants a piece of Jones....

I applaud Franklin for his bowling ball sized.... balls. Rich has heart for days, and just the fact that he wants to test himself... I haven't heard of anyone who wants to fight Jon Jones right now.

I love Rich, but sorry a quick KO would be in his future, just like against Silva.

I personally think that Forrest matches up with with Jones better than anybody else even though I'm not a big Forrest fan.

Everyone is acting like Rich is calling him out or something. Did everyone even read the quote? It's the same thing every time with MMA Mania's UFC quick quote...a quote, usually taken out of context, that seems to cause people to flare their nostrils. I do agree however, that Rich wouldn't stand much of a chance.
