UFC middleweight Dave Branch has been released from the promotion following his loss to Rousimar Palhares at the UFC on Versus 3 show earlier this month in Louisville.

Sources close to the fighter confirmed his release with MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday.

Branch, who is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under legendary trainer Renzo Gracie, went 2-2 during his time with the UFC.

Make like a tree and Branch.

A little weird as he was coming off 2 wins. And other dudes with multiple losses are still on the roster.

Now this is just a garbage release right here.

I don't think he should have been released. Yeah he hasn't been crazy impressive in his wins but I would have given him one more fight to prove himself.

Well it seems like the UFC must be clearing house to make room for some strikeforce fighters to move over. I just can't fathom any other reason for some of the cuts that are being made other than maybe marketability? I guess Branch is more or less a blanket fighter, but man there have to be less talented and less marketable fighters out of the whole of the UFC's roster than Camozzi and Branch.

I know, but he had two wins in a row before the loss.
