Several weeks have passed since Martin Kampmann was lost a split-decision to Diego Sanchez at UFC Live on Versus 3, and there is still zero doubt in his mind that he won the battle. In fact, he believes he did so convincingly as his takedown defense and accurate counter-striking punded Sanchez's face to a beaten pulp over the course of three rounds. When the decision was announced the ongoing debate about MMA judging reform caught fire once again. Kampmann expressed his disappointment in the post fight interview and now faces a reality that has him losing back-to-back fights in the highly competitive UFC welterweight division. Upon his return from visiting his family in Denmark I caught up with "The Hitman" and in this Bloody Elbow Exclusive interview Martin looked back on the fight and shared his thoughts on the outcome.

I'm kind of hoping for a re-match. I think Diego finishes him this time. I think Diego took the last two rounds of their first fight and will finish it this time (hopefully he won't be fat if they fight again)

I thought he won the first 2 rounds, would be nice to see them get in the ring again so the fans can get a clear cut winner.
Obviously a lot of people think kampan won the first two and a lot think diego won the last 2.

Martin Kampmann said it after the fight "Look at his face". He said in the article that any 5 year old could compare their faces and see who won that fight. I absolutely agree. The most damage Diego inflicted was when he fractured Kampmann's knuckle by letting Kampmann hit him in the face repeatedly.

I gave the 2nd and 3rd to Diego. I understand why Martin thinks he got ripped off, but he should focus on finishing fights instead of complaining about one that he didn't.

I dont agree with the "look at his face" argument because one good punch or headbutt etc could do a lot of damage. However, i believe he did win the fight by winning rnd 1 & 2. Which goes to show that even with the people that visit the playground there is inconsistency. We have people who are on both sides of the fence on this fight. Diego won that fight the same way Garcia won against the Korean Zombie. He swung wildly while he got counter punched and the judges got it wrong IMO

If we want to do the "look at his face" logic... then Anderson Silva won every single round against Chael Sonnen (obvious sarcasm.)
I thought the fight was close enough that no one should complain. I thought Martin won after I watched it but it wasn't a robbery by any means.

To me, that's kind of like saying, "Usain Bolt recorded the fastest sprint time, but the guy who was declared the winner was only .05 second behind so it's not a robbery"
I'm sorry, I just need to stay away from these threads. Kampmann is the reverse Leonard Garcia.

Thats not the same because what you've stated is a fact and Bolt would be the winner there would be no debate. What bjj1605 is saying is he thought Kampman won the fight so it's his opinion and not a fact so i don't see how there the same, hey but maybe i'm wrong

I thought kampann won round 1 and i thought diego won rd 2, but rd 2 was close. when I was watching the 3rd rounf i had diego winning, until I did bother to look at his face i just realized kampmann was destroying him with the jab, but because the jab isn't a big power shot nobody noticed, but when you do look at diegos face you can tell those jabs hurt

Exactly. There's always some room for personal opinion in judging fights. Its not the same as recording a sprint time. What I'm saying is that while I thought Martin won, I can see how other people might not. The fight was close enough that awarding either guy the decision wouldn't be robbing the other. A robbery is when the fighter who should have won (CLEARLY) gets cheated. Thats not the case here.

Sorry to all the Diego wishers..>This fight isnt even close if kampmann doesnt break his hand IMO...Kampmann will not play games in the next fight and Diego will need two more months to heal from facial swelling...
