Shogun lost because of brain, not just brawn.

Why the Hell didnt he have a gameplan?

He said the plan was to fight Jones everywhere?! Thats not a gameplan.

Surely a fighter of his calibre knows you need a strategy - and it should have been this:

What do you do to slow down a faster fighter?
What do you do to keep a larger fighter at bay?

You -Chop Down the Tree.

Leg kicks - he should have gone out there with this in mind - take out Jones' base, kick his legs (this is shoguns greatest weapon!).

But no - he barely threw a kick!

Yes Jones is awesome - but you just HAVE to have a plan in a fight like that.

Its what Randy would have done.

Even bloody randy's gameplan mighta changed when Jones ran in with a flying knee to the body, everything went out the window from the word go, but yes i agree, at least more leg kicks might have been effective, however i think he was worried about getting takedown down more frequently after realising how much those h'ell'bows hurt

Agreed -

He would be more open to a takedown - but you gotta take that chance.

Hell -Anythings better than what happened!

And Jones' legs are like sticks. Too long, and not very thick.

They look to be his achilles heel.

A few good shots to those and .. who knows.

shogun did try to kick his legs. but jones have 8 foot arms and just reached down and grabbed it, he hardly bent over at the waist at all to do it.

totally disappointed.

looked like shogun gassed to me.

geez who is gonna stop this kid.....and by kid I really do mean kid, he's only 23 and nobody can touch him NOW, and he's only gonna get better.

I just hope he doesn't let his own hype get to his head and he starts gettin sloppy, losing fights he shouldn't

Seems like a weird call but I have a weird thing about UFC Lightheavyweight Champions, I normally pick against them, and until someone kicks his legs I will pick against him, starting with Rashad

I believe every fighter in the UFC division has a man who has there number, and I have a few names I think could beat Jones, remember the Machida Era? that was short lived, the Shogun Era? That was also short lived, the last person I officially in my head believe too have retained the championship was Rampage, i think evey fighter in the division has a guy who can beat him.

Jones - Rashad & Machida and unless i see it Forrest
Shogun - Rashad & Forrest
Machida - Rampage (3 rounds) & Shogun
Forrest - Rashad, in a 3 round fight Rampage
Rashad - Rampage
Rampage - Machida (5 rounds) Shogun, Forrest

I don't think Shogun was anywhere near 100 percent, but I don't think it would have mattered. That was a truly great performance against one of the all time greats. Jones hurt him early and it's possible that's what made Shogun fight the way he did, just one of the all time great performances.

It did look like shogun gassed.

He has been known to turn up in poor shape before.

But perhaps he was just dizzy and all over the place havin been beat up for a whole round.

I still dont think he tried a kick until round 2.

Same with Crocop.

He has forgotten how to fight,.

He has become a desperate headhunter, he used to go for legs, kindney, etc.

He was deadly. Now he looks afraid, and every once in a while, he remembers he has legs and kicks for the head in desperation.
