Dana White - "It's literally official right now. We just closed the deal. As we continue to grow and expand in more countries, one of the things is we need more fights. Strikeforce is a brand that fans have come to like. They do have a following, people enjoy the fights that they are putting on and it made sense to us."

Dana specifically said several times that he's going to honour all the contracts. Strikeforce will still be running, Coker is still employed and they are still on Showtime.

Cain vs Overeem!!! The hype behind Diaz finally dies! Melendez finally has to back up his talk!! Souza gets some legit challenges!
EDIT:
Ohh guess not.

And he just said no co-promotion in the interview. No one lost their jobs and Coker is running Strikeforce still. Dana just said he's going to completely boost Strikeforce and make them international.

Thanks for allowing me to NOT read the article. I appreciate the response.
So will the UFC and Strikeforce fighters battle eachother or not? That's the only thing that really matters to me at this point...

Dana said that there will be no co-promotion but if contracts expire Dana said he'll probably go for some big names and switch them over to the ufc. He said the showtime contract will probably expire in 2 years. He wants to expand Strikeforce and make them a larger, more international company. He's going to give full support in looking for prospects and he's keeping the women's division. Think of it as still Strikeforce and still ufc, just expanded.

Dana was pretty adamant he will not co or cross promote. Heres hoping he loosens his grip on that though!

Yeah, I finally watched the interview...
This is way less interesting to me, from a fight-fan perspective, than it first appeared.... I'm gonna hope for a WEC type situation...

I dunno man, this could be huge. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but when fighters contracts start running up, like Overeem or Werdum or Big Silva Dana is going to bring them to the ufc. And for all you Strikeforce lovers, their shows are only going to get better. This is excellent news. Strikeforce won't die like Pride did. At least not as soon.

I still call BS on the cross promotion denial.
Fedor vs. Couture by the end of 2011.

Yeah, I was pretty gutted about that too. But apparently its going to be pretty easy to get Strikeforce fighters to sign UFC contracts!

I think your right on point, This is big eventually they will merge like Wec did just for now there under the Zuffa banner. I'm excited with the exception of Diaz I honestly think every strike force champ can give a ufc champ a run for their money. Though we won't find out soon it's important in the long run. I expect Strike force to eventually merge and when the contracts are up much like the wec and Versus they are just going to air UFC events on showtime.
