Royce Gracie is an iconic figure in the world of mixed martial arts. His dominance in the early days of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is legendary. So, when the announcement was made that the UFC would be holding an event in his homeland of Brazil in 2011, many wondered if Gracie would be asked to be on the fight card.

I hope if they bring him back its as part of a Portugese broadcasting team and not to fight.

He'll always be a figure in the sport but continuing to fight at this point will turn him into MMA's Brett Favre.

I honestly don't think he should fight for the ufc again unless it's a legend vs legend type match that is a one time thing. The ufc isn't big on gimmick fights but I wouldn't mind seeing them sign Royce and Sakaraba for one fight and have them fight. The Brazil fans would probably love that.

Other than that though, no, Royce shouldn't fight in the ufc.

I just got the call, guys. I'm going to be facing Royce at UFC: Brazil.

Now if I can only make the cut from 350 down to 170...

There was some buzz around the interwebs a few days ago over Royce being on the UFC's roster. I don't know if he's been there all of this time, but I recall having conversations about it on here a couple of years ago...so, if that's the latest proof, I wouldn't say anything has changed.

Lol, gain 50 more pounds and audition for the Biggest Loser. Your story would be great, you'd be a shoe in.

IMO he has to fight at the UFC in Brazil (hes the godfather), Why not give him Hughes in a rematch. Makes good sense.

I only want to see him fight against another submission fighter. If not, then he should stay out of the cage.

What's Maia up to?

I think that would be really cool, probably a logistical nightmare for the UFC but both guys have a win, both are legends who really can't compete with todays fighters. Whats Ken Shamrock up to? Jeremy Horn would be an interesting one too.

I know it would be cool for Royce to fight but c'mon he is in his forty's and has no point fighting in the UFC. Who could he really face at Welterweight? Every descent competitor in the UFC would murder Royce. That said, I have nothing against Royce, he is a legend in the sport and was the greatest back in the day but he is just to old.

I'm not sure I'd be down with Shamrock but I was definitely thinking about Horn as well.

I think he's around 185 now, I don't think he could compete with the elite but I'd kill to see him fight Sakuraba again. Probably won't happen but I can Dream.

Ya I think Shamrock has burnt his bridges with the UFC anyway. I'd just like to see Royce choke him out again.

I can't blame you for that!
