Another talented veteran has been added to the ever-deepening talent pool of the Maximum Fighting Championship's lightweight division.

Hermes "The Unreal" Franca (20-9) has signed a multi-fight deal with the organization and is slated to make his debut at MFC 29: Conquer on Friday, April 8 in the co-main event against Drew "Night Rider" Fickett (41-12). The bout is subject to OAC approval.

The 36-year-old native of Fortaleza, Brazil, had originally signed with the MFC two years ago, but decided instead to enter into retirement from fighting and focus on training students in Jupiter, Florida. But with a change of heart, Franca re-emerged in the past few months and readily agreed to finally hit the MFC frontier.

Yeah, I was about to say I didn't think he was fighting anymore. But that is a tough fight to come back too, Fickett.

It would be really cool if hermes can get some wins together and atleast end his career on a better note. I was a big franca fan, reminds me of leanord garcia with not much technique but threw bombs and it w as shocking seeing how often the bombs would land. Ficket who has been doing better as of late. Tough fight

Franca has a gym here in Portland, 3rd eye jiu jitsu. I've seen him hanging out in the crowd at the Strikeforce Challengers card we had at the Rose Garden. I wonder if he just flies back and forth from here and Florida? It seems like a long commute to me.

It is good to see Hermes fighting once again. I have always been a big fan. I guess Hermes has also been teaching some out of East/West Combat Club in Syracuse NY. He sure does get around.
