After dropping hints of a possible move to 145 pounds, two-time lightweight title challenger Kenny Florian (14-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) erased all doubts.

On the latest edition of ESPN's "MMA Live" series, Florian announced he'll meet Brazilian featherweight Diego Nunes (16-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at June's UFC 131 event.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since verified that both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight and that bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.

UFC 131, which is expected to take place June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It's currently unknown if the Florian vs. Nunes fight will factor into the evening's main card.

For Florian, the move confirms he'll now compete in an incredible fourth different weightclass for the UFC.

Nunes impressed me against brown.
But florian is a whole different level

Florian will end this
I just hope ufc doesn't give him title shot for it
He is still another fight away

I do think mendes will face aldo/homminick winnner in july or aug

Saw this fight coming, you knew the ufc is either trying to get florian in contention as soon as possible based off of his name value and the lack there off at feather weight, or have a deserving contender beat him to market him easier. In my opinion the top two contenders at 145 aside from hommoncick is mendes and nunes, and I doubt the ufc would give kenny a strong wrestler for his first bout at 145. Good fight think kenny takes it though

i think Tyson Griffin and Kenny will end up in contention real soon.... Griffin is out with injury now but later in year could see Griffin getting a chance to have a chance as well.

145 will not be kind to Kenny... he already looks like jesus on the cross when he weighs in, now he will probably have no cardio and be even less aggressive then he has been lately. 155 is his best weight even though he wasnt as aggressive as he was at 170, he barely throws any knees or elbows anymore. Just watch the karalexis fight and his earlier fights compared to the penn and maynard fights, he became a different fighter and fought not to lose instead of fighting to win.

Interesting first match-up at 145. Florian is usually a finisher, but Nunes has never been finished. I still think Kenny takes it though.

Great fight! Joe Silva has been on a hot streak recently.

See, I like Nunes in this fight, and I dislike Florian in general. Sure, Florian's skills made him deadly at Lightweight, but who knows what will happen when he moves down. For all we know, he will be so unhealthy that it takes all his energy just to shoot for a takedown. It's just always a dangerous move betting on a fight in his first fight down in a lower weight division. Nunes has been in the money lately and I don't know if I want to bank on Florian just because of his accomplishments at Lightweight.
