All may not be lost for Phil Davis.
The light heavyweight is now expected to meet Jason Brilz on the main card of UFC 129, according to sources close to the event who told MMAjunkie.com that verbal agreements are in place for the fight. Contracts are expected to be finalized shortly.
UFC 129 takes place April 29 at Rogers Centre in Toronto and has already broken box-office records for a North American MMA event with 55,000 tickets sold and a live-gate tally of $11 million.

Are you kidding me? Perfect. Perfect match-up! They couldn't find a better replacement than Brilz.
Yeah, I'm sure Davis would like an opponent with a bigger name. But, this fight is perfect in the skill aspect, and it's the best Davis will recieve without being thrown to the wolves of the division. It will test both fighter's ability, and a loss from either of them wouldn't hurt their respective records. Some fans may complain about the match-up, saying that Brilz isn't on the level of Davis. But, honestly, I think Brilz is the perfect opponent to see just how far Davis has his skillset in the game. Remember, an arguement can be made that Brilz actually won against Little Nog, and that is a big win for anyone.

Hope Davis destroys him. Similar to his Hamill matchup stylewise.

Exactly how I feel.

I like the way the UFC is bringing Davis along slowly. He is still green, and needs the expierience. I know Brillz gave Lil Nog a great run for his money and probably won that fight. But Nog is no where the athlete that Davis is. Flat out! I see Davis pushing the pace and taking Brillz out in a UD maybe late sub.

Yeah, I'd like to see him sub Brilz with another "Wonder-Bar". But I'm guessing it will be a Davis UD.
EDIT: While I would like to see another submission finish from Davis, I think I will be cheering for the underdog in this fight.

I don't see Davis subbing Brilz. Little Nog couldn't submit Brilz. I think I would pick Brilz right now, I think his wrestling is superior. Brilz UD.

not in 10 million years is Brilz's wrestling better...if I understood you correctly
valid point with Nog. not being able to submit him, but Phil will out wrestle him 10 out of 9 times

Nog was on his back though, Davis will most likely be on top.

Fixed that for you.
Brilz is a game opponent for anyone. It's going to be hard to get him to the mat I think. Phil better bring in some improved stand up if he wants to win in convincing fashion. I think this will end up being a clinch fest with Mr. Wonderful getting the nod.
Hoping for a really good fight, as I like both of these guys.
