On July 28, 2009, the Los Angeles Times reported that Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC were finalizing a deal that would result in an announcement by the end of that week of the top heavyweight in mixed martial arts finally agreeing to step into the Octagon.
That report was wrong, Fedor went to Strikeforce instead of the UFC, and now Fedor has lost two fights and lost the mantle of Best Heavyweight in MMA. The heavyweight division in the UFC, meanwhile, has moved on and looks a lot different now than it did a year and a half ago.
But what if the report had been correct?

Brock would give Fedor a difficult fight because of his weight, but he does not have the stature that Bigfoot had nor the submission game of Werdum. Plus he can't take a hit. I see Fedor beating Brock.
JDS and Cain are both small heavyweights and would likely try to trade with Fedor and both matches would be a toss-up imo.
But yeah, Fedor wouldn't have continued his streak in the UFC. He's just getting old.

I think he would have beaten Brock and Carwin. JDS and Cain would have been tougher fights for him.

I think he would have taken Brock,Carwin and possibly JDS. Cain probably would have beaten him though. Wear'n him down with take downs and good GnP.

It just would of been nice if he would have passed the torch, I believed Werdum could beat him, but how easily it happened was stunning, Silva is a tough fight for anybody so I didn't know what to expect. I thought the cage would be a huge factor when he fought and I think it changed things for him like angles for his bombs, and we saw against Silva where he tried to rope a dope off the cage, I think even guys like Shogun have modified their style to fight in a cage.

He would have beat JDS but the other 3 top I think would beat him. Lesnar included.

All these Fedor fans crack me up! He has made a legacy out of beating a bunch of scrubs and has beens. He should have went to the UFC when Silvia and Arlovski were the best in the division. That would have been his only chance at a title run. If he was to step into today's UFC heavyweight division he would be destroyed, EVEN IN HIS PRIME!
