Despite conflicting reports, UFC president Dana White insists Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) will indeed meet Brian Stann (10-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC 130.

The UFC boss told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that while Silva has shown some resistance to the matchup, the two middleweight sluggers will indeed meet in May.

"It's on," White said flatly of the matchup. "It's on."

When they officially announce it, I'll believe. Too much back and forth right now to get excited over.

It should be a number 1 contenders slot. Yea, neitehr have any chance against Silva...but its just a match to bring together new and exciting matchups. Besides you never know.

Satistically speaking (In terms of current standing based on recent wins/streaks, and not actual ability) I think Wandy is either 3 or 4, and Stann gots to be between 7 and 10.

So I say make this for number one contender for the title (after Okami of course)

Interesting though as Wandy is saying he isnt healthy in time for the fight.

Just need to set up Wandy vs Akiyama.

Then Okami is going to need another fight while he waits to see what happens with Anderson.

this fight should be awesome. stann has a good of chance as wandy of winning IMO. hes been on a roll and wandy has been injured, they both have a chance to KO eachother.

Anyone else really not excited by this fight?

I am a huge fan of both fighters, Wanderlei is a legend and Stann is an American Hero, and I know someone is getting put to sleep in this fight... Maybe it's the on again off again stuff that has made me lose interest.....

I'm there with you. I've actually lost all interest in the MW and WW divisions. None of it matters because neither Silva or GSP are going to lose for quite some time.

Actually, the more and more I think about it, Shields should be a complete breeze for GSP. I have seriously convinced myself that the Shields fight is easier to pick than some people would believe.

Stann should handle Wanderlei in this fight. Wandy has been in too many wars for his chin to hold up against the shots that Stann can deliver. I mean, Stann put Leben to sleep, he should be able to do the same against an aging veteran who's literally been put to sleep several times.
