Although currently sidelined by a knee injury, former UFC lightweight contender Tyson Griffin has some big plans for his return to the cage: a drop in weight class.

The move to featherweight likely will come later this year.

Griffin recently announced the plans, which he hopes lead to a title shot, in a video update on his official website.

Too bad Faber has moved down to BW for awhile. Hopefully this move will be successful for Tyson.

This is an interesting move. I wonder how he would fare against the likes of Chad Mendes or Mark Hominick or ...pause.... Jose Aldo!

Should be an interesting cut for Tyson....I know he carries a little extra body fat @ 155.....wonder if the cut will be difficult?

Outstanding move on his part, will help his height problems out a bit, and he will be one of the most powerful and explosive guys in the division the day he shows up to.

He's mentioned before that he has no problem cutting to Featherweight and referenced his fight with Faber as being "one of the only times I've felt 100% comfortable with my weight."
