The news that Mark Hominick is one win away from a UFC featherweight title shot against Jose Aldo has been questioned by some MMA fans who wonder whether Hominick has really done enough to merit fighting for a belt.

But for his part, Hominick insists that he has exactly what it takes to beat Aldo, and that he's ready to throw things at Aldo in the cage that the champion has never seen before.

"Aldo has faced everybody -- he's faced top grapplers, top jiu jitsu guys, wrestlers," Hominick said on HDNet's Inside MMA. "But he hasn't faced a top elite striker like myself. I'm going to be in his face."

That may be true, but Hominick doesn't have te best track record against top level talent, with most of his wins against mediocre talent. I think he'll be beaten anywhere that Aldo feels like taking the fight.

mark hominick you have never faced a striker like jose aldo and he is an elite striker.Focus on roop first and if he gets past him and wants to stand and trade with jose he cud be in for a short night.

i agree he will be beaten wherever the fight takes place, but at this point i think you can say the same thing about any 145er that is put in against aldo

Aldo also hasn't had 40,000+ fans cheering madly for the other guy, but first things first, Mark.

Hominick must have not watched the fights that Aldo has been in either that or he needs to wake up from his dream.

Im a Hominick fan, but he really does need to get his head right. Roop showed in his last fight he's not someone to overlook.

And besides, if Mark thinks his striking is more dangerous than Aldo's, he's sadly mistaken. Lets look at the stats:

Hominick: 1 (t)ko in his last six fights.
Aldo: 5 (t)kos in his last six fights.

hmmm

I like his confidence, but I agree with all of you that Hominick is just hyping himself up and he may be overlooking Roop which may be a big mistake. But then again Hominick also said on Inside MMA that Chris Horodecki will make it to the UFC after being cut, which is also biased and not likely.

Besides, when Aldo hits him with crisp straight counters, heavy hooks and massive leg kicks he wont wanna stand with Aldo anymore.

I live in a town 15 mins south of London, Ontario and I have been to their gym a few times to see them and talk with them and I know there is no way Mark is over-looking Roop...Team Tompkins will also have a plan to neutrilize Roop's "Praying-Mantis" reach...but I dont know if him winning is a great thing lol cuz Aldo is untouchable right now and I dont wanna go to UFC 129 in Toronto and see Mark get killed
