Two-time BJJ world champion, two-time ADCC champion, and UFC and Pride veteran Fabricio Werdum shocked the world when he choked out Fedor Emelianenko in 2010. Now he'll challenge Alistair Overeem for the Strikeforce title in the first round of their heavyweight tournament.

Technically, your side of the key is stronger, is where the favorites are. Why do you think that Strikeforce matched the fights this way?

I believe they did it that way so that they can sell many pay-per-view subscriptions on the semifinals and on the finale. They're betting I'll beat Overeem and that Fedor beats Big Foot, because they know everybody wants that rematch. So, they want to guarantee a good semifinal so that they sell it out and they're betting on it. Who doesn't want to watch a rematch like this one?

kind of funny that he thinks they want him to win as a result of this matchup. Seems pretty obvious that they want Fedor to fight Overeem.

How can he not be happy he's facing the champion of his devision? Strikeforce is a messed up company if the challenger for the title holds a win over Fedor in more regard than the belt the company own!

i will never pay for a strikeforce ppv. even if its Fedor vs the reem or ver-doom or barnett.

Obviously he's not happy because he's going to get KTFO
Agree with the Fedor win is held in higher regard than Strikeforce title, maybe Werdum will pull out?

I don't blame him. First round he gets the reem then after maybe fedor
He should have faced sergei or arlovksi first.
Those brackets are so bad!!! One side is domminant other side is so utter weak

My how we count Arlovski out so quickly. A betting man would place some cash on Andrei. Seriously.

do you not understand the logistics behind it? it has nothing to do with PPV or viewership

Werdum/Overeem is for the title. Fedor/Bigfoot is for the #1 contender to fight the winner of the title fight. the other side of the bracket is to determine the next, deserving, title contender.

is it really that hard to understand?

l can't believe it either. The guy only has real wins over Gonzaga(x2), Aleks, Vera, Antonio Silva, and Overeem...oh wait...isn't that who he's going to be fighting? But that was four years ago, I'll give you that, and against a much smaller Overeem. I still think people are discounting Werdum way too quick. You do realize he's been (T)KOd once right? In 19 fights, one time...This fight seems to be a lot more competitive than you guys are giving it credit for.

But that being said, Werdum, that was in PRIDE four years ago, it's not really Strikeforce granting him a rematch...It just so happens you're two of the best heavyweights in the world fighting for the same belt in a new organization. Buck up.

Overeem is scary he's going to merk Werdum I think but I hope he doesn't beat Fedor. Someone said we're all counting Arlovski out but I really just can't see him beating Overeem, Fedor or Bigfoot he's too easy to hurt these days and those guys are mean
