Antonio McKee has a plan. It's simple, really.
"By the end of the year I should have the UFC [lightweight] belt," he told MMA Fighting. "I've got to get through [Jacob] Volkmann here, beat up Volkmann real quick, and after I get done with Volkmann they'll think I'm serious and we can start moving forward and making progress."
See? Nothing to it. After 11 years as a pro fighter, the 40-year-old McKee is set to make his Octagon debut at UFC 125 this Saturday, so of course he already has his future mapped out.
But does he really think becoming a UFC champion is going to be that easy? Seriously?

I haven't seen McKee fight, but word is he's worse than Jon Fitch (according to those who think Fitch sucks just because he doesn't finish)
I like fighters like Fitch. I don't care about finishes, sure they are exciting, but I enjoy a good three round fight just as much, and I'm always looking forward to seeing Fitch fight. If McKee is really anything like him, I'll be a fan.
But, a style like that won't get you far in the UFC. It seems now a days they want excitment more than wins, so if McKee really is as "boring" as people say then I doubt he will be getting a shot anytime soon, wins or not.

"Oh yeah, come on, man. I've got a four-fight deal, so I'd say that sounds about right. Randy [Couture] won the belt when he was about 44, right? I'll be 41 by the end of the year, and I think McKee is made of a little better stuff than Randy, so I should have it by then."
Those athletic commissions must be brutal, they appear to have turned Chael Sonnen into a 40 year old black man who refers to himself in the 3rd person.

McKee has 18 decision wins and 7 wins by finish. He has more decision wins than Fitch has fights in the UFC. And look at what Fitch has accomplished in the organization to get ONE title shot. He won EIGHT fights in a row, tying what was then the longest win record, set by Royce Gracie.
His title fight was a five round war, which he obviously lost. Now he has FIVE more consecutive wins, and isn't even getting his goddamn name mentioned in the 170 title picture.
Fitch is the man in my opinion. I do not like watching his fights really; I find most of the criticism against him is fair. He is a wrestler, not a BJJ master, so he physically imposes his will in a fight in the form of taking a guy down, holding him down, and trying to ground and pound em out. Generally, he accomplishes all of this, give or take the ground and pound.
Having said that, I respect Fitch. He is one of the most dominant forces ever in the UFC. Mixed Martial Arts is about using whatever tools you have at your disposal to win a fight. Fitch uses his to near perfection. I think it is as boring as watching paint dry, but I admire it. Everyone knows his game, but no one can stop him but GSP. And who knows, that fight was a couple years ago. We've seen Fitch run through the highest caliber of opponent that there is in the UFC.
...... sorry, I forget what this diatribe had to do with McKee... OH yeah! If he wants the belt by the end of the year, he needs like five first round knock outs. The belt is practically booked through the year!

beats Volkman, beats Dunham/Guillard winner or Florian next fight, beats someone for #1 contender and gets title fight early 2012. who fights more than 3x a year anyways? this seems more logical
