I hope Randy gets a game plan to deal with Gonzagas bulk, we dont need Gonzaga winning the title and having a Sylvia II starting allover again.

I think CC is more dangerous though, when his head is in the right space, and he is in that killer mood Cro Cop is just lethal.

Randy does appear to be bulking up. He looked like a gorilla in a suit when he congratulated Gonzaga after the fight. He looked Gonzaga in the eye, smiled and said I look forward to fighting you.

Everyone is so quick to rule out Captain America. Couture keeps working on his stand up, is crazy strong- he took down Silvia how many times???

WAR RANDY!!!

im in no way counting randy out. i just think that gonzaga brings a much tougher challenge to randy that sylvia or CC or AA

I don't see randy winning on the feet or the mat. The reason he could outstrike timmah was because Randy was always faking the takedown and keeping him off balance. GG won't fear the take down, he will embrace it.

Randy's Screwed!

That's what everybody said before UFC 43...

...and again before UFC 44...

...and again before UFC 68...

Sorry, but I can't call Gonzaga the favorite here. Gonna be a good fight, though.

I love randy and Napao but my money is on Napao.

I think Randy will win the first round however but wont be able to capitalize,

Leaving himself vulnerable to Napao's game plan in the second

It's a tough fight for Couture for a lot of reasons, one of which is simply that Gonzaga is so massive. With Cro Cop, Couture had that supreme confidence that if he could get the fight to the ground he could control the action there, but he doesn't have that anymore. Still, I will never doubt Couture's ability to gameplan, and I fully expect him to come up with something to give Gonzaga trouble. Win or lose, Couture is a gamer.

i don't buy what randy is saying he'll have a harder time in cro cop because of the take down defence of cro cop he'll be force to stand with him. he has less chance on cro cop than on gonzaga. style makes fights. he is just playing mind games with cro cop.

randy vs gonzaga = its 50/50 match although gonzaga looked impressive randy has the experience and the game plan he would carefully study gonzaga and execute a solid gameplan. never doubt randy couture experience is his key of winning.

randy vs cro cop = 60/40 in favor of cro cop. it would all depends if randy could take down cro cop(if he could take him down with ease then randy would have no problem.). and if randy could be unpredictable(meaning show more. because cro cop would study his gonzaga vs him tapes so randy should mixed gonzagas game plan with other effective game plan.)

Even if Cro Cop would have beaten Napao he would still be in the same shape mentally that he was for the Napao fight. He just doesnt have any drive and randy would have taken that match up anyday.

Not to mention I have no doubt that randy would have had the same game plan Gonzaga had with the circle strafe and kick-catch-takedown maneuver resulting in a very similar match up.

i think it comes down to who has the better gameplan.. and who can enforce their will.

striking wise - i havn't seen enough of napao recently, besides that nasty ass headkick that shocked the world, so i'll give it to randy because hes stuck in there with some good strikers

grappling - classic case, wrestler vs jiu jitsu.. its basically who has the better position, but i give the advantage to napao because of those nasty elbows i saw.

endurance- hard to tell, with randys age and napaos massive-ness and judging from his old fight with werdum, i think they both could gas in the later rounds.

This fight is going to come down to one thing, and one thing only. Who ever is more dominant getting the take down will win this fight. Randy won't be submitted, and I don't see either getting a KO. Both know that if one gets on top of the other they probably won't get off their back till the bell rings or there is a TKO. You won't see Randy throw the haymakers he did against Tim because if he misses Gonzaga will have a double, and put Randy on his back. Like wise with Gonzaga and his leg and head kicks.

The only other deciding factor I could see coming up is fuel in the gas tank. Gonzaga looked pretty gassed before he caught Jordan. Will he have the endurance to go 5 if need be.

Randy has always had trouble with bigger guys who can grapple. Ricco and Barnett are prime examples of that

I'm hoping Randy comes in w/ a gameplan. I think the Barnett, Ricco and Chuck fights matured him a lot as a fighter. I think he's better as HW and he learned that, and how he needed to change his game, in the last couple years. I think this fight is pretty even. I'm hoping Gonzaga turns out to be the real deal, but I'm also hoping that Randy still has what it takes to be HW champ. I'd love to see a war w/ some stand up, some g'n'p, some sub def and off and eventually g'n'p tko w for Randy. These two guys I think, and hope, should have anyting but a boring fight.
