Each coming off of a win in their most recent fights, it looks like Paul Kelly and Sam Stout will add a 155-pound showdown with some international flair to the UFC 126 fight card scheduled for Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas.
MMAWeekly.com sources on Friday confirmed the bout has been verbally agreed to. It was first reported by FightersOnly.com.
Kelly (11-3) is a British fighter that recently defeated T.J. O’Brien at UFC 123 in Detroit. The victory gave him a new lease on life in the UFC having lost two of his previous three fights. He started his Octagon career at welterweight, but dropped down to lightweight, where he has gone 3-2, about a year and a half ago.

Solid fight for sure, either way I will prolly get burned whoever I pick. First thought was Kelly though.

Paul Kelly is nowhere near ready for Sam Stout. I expect a blowout and probably rare finish from Stout.

Determining factor should be Stout's sprawl. If he's as sharp as he was vs Lauzon, he lands more strikes, blocks most of Kelly's punches and just ignores the few that get through. If his timing is off he'll likely be controlled and pissed as hell at the end.
Stout's lack of power in his strikes - from an unwillingness to commit and fully turn the hips - may actually be an asset in this fight, since he'll be less off balanced as to be taken down over and over.
Looking forward to it either way. Solid matchup.

I dont think its do or die for stout. He always has exciting fights and has won FOTN more than any other ufc fighter if i remember correctly. Either way i think he is safe at least for a couple more fights. Then again it is the ufc and with the WEC merger they are going to start "trimming the fat".

Stout has elite level kickboxing with insane cardio and one hell of a chin....dude can't even get cut. Kelly's stand up will probably look slow and sloppy in contrast and the only way I think that Kelly could win this is if he gets it to the ground in the beginning of every round to grind out a decision.....Stouts TDD should end that easily enough....Stout really should have this one IMO.
