UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has suffered an undisclosed injury and has withdrawn from his UFC 125 co-main event bout with Josh Grispi.
Sources close to the event notified Heavy.com of the news this afternoon.
Aldo received his new featherweight title in a private ceremony this weekend from UFC President Dana White.

Hmm. Revise Aldo's "out" to the fight's in "jeopardy." Aldo just told his management he will fight regardless. I'm not so sure that happens.

Unfortunate news from @HeavyMMA re: Jose Aldo off 1/1 UFC. I've confirmed the injury: a compacted vertebrae caused tingling in both arms.

Aldo lost strength. His trainer made him take an MRI. News relayed to his management this morning. He's out at least a month for therapy.

Great. Here we go again!!! Like last year
Add a co main event
Either put nelson back on card against mir or crocop
Or move a bout bader vs jones. Or franklin vs griffin to this card

wow what a time for him to get an injury. Pretty unfortunate, I'm sure he's not happy about missing his intended UFC debut.

Nelson is not an option due to contractual issues.

In the end, I'd be surprised if he doesn't listen to whatever Dede Pederneiras tells him is best. I'm sure he wants to fight, but it might not be a good idea if we are going to see a less than 100% Aldo.

I know Miguel Torres has a fight with banuelos in feburary, and I say trash that....
Urijah Faber vs. Miguel Torres Co-Main Event...
It would definetly generate interest, serve as a great co-main event, and still introduce two great WEC fighters....
Who's with me?

I'd really rather see Faber/Torres as a five round fight. If Faber beats the winner of Cruz/Jorgenson, I could see them giving Torres the shot at that point if he beats Banuelos. Since this playing out is a good possibility, I'd rather wait on Faber/Torres.

I was talking to a buddy today and we both agreed that this should have been the first event to come out of the merger, two big stars who put on great fights...intices the hard corps fans and introduces the "new" lighter divisions to the world with a bang!

We need Aldo for 125!!!! I was so dissapointed in the card when it was just Maynard V. Edgar II... At least it is still relatively stacked. Brandon Vera V. Thiago Silva is on the under card! And we do get Mike Brown making his UFC debut at 145... There should still be a good deal of fun to be had, but man. That was the main event in my book. Aldo never disappoints.
