May be so... But Kampmann did nothing to help himself. He had the means to win that fight and chose to make feeble attempts to sub Shields when clearly the most reasonable attack would have been to separate and strike at range. I love the hitman, but this is a theme that we've seen a few times now. He tried to strike with Daley and it cost him. Then he tried to grapple with truly one of the best grapplers in the world at 170. He's go no one but himself to blame for both of those losses.

I don't see any reason for fighters complaining like this. Theres a simple fix to this issue.

Learn how to defend it

wrestling is a part of it and it was no secret, every person that watched this fight knew Shields game plan so did Kampmann and he couldnt do anything about it....who's fault is that????

Exactly. That would be like Rampage saying:

"Forrest Griffin did nothing but leg kick me and out-strike me from the outside."

I agree with him fully. If you read the statement he says that there's something wrong with judging criteria, but he also acknowledges that he lost the fight as a result of his own poor decisions, and that he should've done something differently. He's right, Shields did nothing but hug him and the judging in north american MMA is absolutely laughable.

I literally score every fight twice when I watch them. Once with a realistic scoring system, and a second time under the criteria that I know the judges will use (hugging, leaning, being on top and doing no damage... these are all considered equivalent to actually punching someone and doing damage.)

Damage and effort to finish should be the absolute #1 criteria, with things like "control" and "standing on the bud light logo" being secondary differentiating factors. If someone lays on you for 4 minutes and does no damage, doesn't even try to do damage, then you get up and beat his ass for 1 minute, you should be considered to be winning the round.

Don't you know that the Bud Light logo is homebase and you can't be touched there?
