A welterweight matchup between perennial contender Jon Fitch (23-3 MMA, 13-1 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (23-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is on tap for UFC 126's pay-per-view card.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that at least one fighter has agreed to the fight and that bout agreements are in the process of being finalized.

UFC 126 takes place Feb. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is expected to feature a middleweight title fight between reigning champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort.

Jon Fitch is easily the #2 in the division, would absolutely TOOL Jake Shields...yet he is relegated to gatekeeper status. What a joke.

I feel for Fitch, I really do. I don't think he will ever recieve the credit he's deserved as one of the best in his division just because casual fans don't enjoy his so called "blanket" style, and as we all know, Dana White "fights" for the casual fans! Geez.

The way I see it, all these fans are complaining about him being boring and all but what they don't realize is that he's beating the best in his division. He is so dominant against anyone not named GSP that he can fight them for three rounds and come out with almost no injuries. Why switch it up? When you switch up your style is when you start losing. For example:

Hazelett .vs Daley - Hazelett decided to stand with Daley for too long, and look what happened.

Gonzaga .vs. everyone - Gonzaga has some intense BJJ, but since Cro Cop thinks he's a K-1 striker.

Shields .vs. Kampmann - Kampmann decided to play Shields game and try to beat him on the ground instead of using his striking. Bad choice.

Do what your good at, and it gives you the best chance of winning, which is what Fitch does.

If fighters don't like losing to "blanket" fighters they need to learn some damn takedown defense.

Yeah...there's like 10 other welterweights that I would rather see Fitch fight right now.

No offence to Ellenberger. He's a stud, but he's not even close to contender status. Fitch beating Ellenberger would mean absolutely nothing. Ellenberger is the only one with something to gain from this fight.

Oh well. Joe silva has been doing an outstanding job lately, but I guess even Joe is bound to lay a turd every now and again

Hopefully Ellenberger can stay off the fence and out of the clinch.

Not only does he not get the title shot he deserves but he's not even given a top contender in his next match!! This is plain disrespectful to Fitch IMO

WAR FITCH
