With the WEC featherweight title retired in Thursday's UFC-WEC merger, the UFC's first-ever featherweight championship fight will take place at UFC 125.
Featherweight contender Josh Grispi (14-1 MMA, 4-0 WEC) has been pulled from a planned WEC 52 bout with Erik Koch in favor of a UFC 125 shot at 145-pound champion Jose Aldo.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed with sources close to the event that verbal agreements are in place for the contest, and bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.

I remember Grispi's first fight in the WEC I thought whoa this kid is gonna be good. But Aldo will probably kick his butt.

Faber almost lost his leg the last time that he fought Aldo, another fight is totally unnecessary and could ruin Faber's career. It would be better if they had Faber fight on the card as well.

i completely agree. however i know plenty of people personally that would still pick faber to win just because of his name. theyd make plenty of money off him

I wonder if either fighter will have the pre-fight jitters. Yeah, they've fought for WEC crowds, but those numbers are nothing compared to the UFC. Aldo usually seems pretty calm and collected, so I don't think he will have any problems. As for Grispi, I don't know. Has he been main or co-main event yet? I haven't been keeping up with him. I'm sure he'll be slightly on edge though, considering he's fight Aldo for the first FW UFC title, and on PPV.

That clears up Aldo's opponent, but kinda because I thought I would get to see this fight for free.
Hope they get a new opponent for Eric Koch for the last WEC show.
