Talent, size, strength, KO power, submissions and a likable personality. Dude had it all but in the end I believe his loyalty did him in. Sad story... but I'm sure he'll be fine.
I would have liked to have seen Gonzaga a regular at ATT or some other camp that could have really upped his game IMO. I'm sure he trained all over the place, but clearly something was missing. Maybe the camp wasn't what it was, but as of now that's really all I can conclude

perfectly said man, im not knocking link, but they arent ATT, blackhouse, AKA, etc.
EDIT: im thinking that along with the merger there are going to be cuts all across the board, with some of the guys cut being sort of high profile.

Yeah I Agree, I feel if he would've joined a good solid camp he could have been so much more. He had all the talent to be great, sadly it just didn't happen. and at this point I don't think it ever will.

He should make some waves outside the UFC, a fight against Barnett would be fireworks.

He will do fine outside of the UFC as he has made a pretty big name for himself, maybe he can get it together and fight his way back in...

It's kind of his own fault, that fight with schaub was an easy victory if he had a proper gameplan. but he didn't. all said and done he will b back

Other than his Head kick onu CC he really hasn't impressed. After 2 definitave losses and being just better than 500 at 7-5 in the UFC i cant say that i am surprised or disapointed

I'm not surprised nor dissappointed either. But I must admit, he will be a sorely missed gatekeeper.
I hope he changes camps

But the thing is he's shown flashes of brilliance and/or great talent in nearly every one of his fights. Regardless of whether he won or lost he has had great opening rounds. So you know the talent is there it's just a question of the mindset. Which is honestly where I think a great camp helps you most. (I.E. Greg Jackson's)

Agreed, sir. He has ALL the potential in the world. His top game is amazing, he just rarely uses it. Actually, now that I think about it, for a top rated BJJ player, he's way too fond of the striking game. I wonder if that HK to CC had anything to do with it.

But where does he go fight outside of the UFC?
I would like to see him go to SF because it's the only real decent HW division out there, outside the UFC.

As mentioned in the article, on his twitter he wrote-
"Back to normal life and BJJ forever."
Suggesting maybe he doesn't intend to fight MMA anymore. I'm sure he could wreck most guys outside the UFC outside of Barney, Overeem, Werdum (Good rematch), Fedor and maybe a handful of others. I would personally be interested to see how he'd fare against Rogers since Gonzaga tends to wilt under pressure and that is what Rogers likes to bring.
Still a lot of interesting fights out there so I hope he doesn't do what his twitter may be suggesting.
