I'm surprised that everyone assumes that it will be a television network. I think the possibility of an internet channel would be much more likely.

I just don't see how they would be able to fill the slots on a television network, even if they were to outsource some content...but they'd be a perfect fit for internet TV and could still do live content whenever they wanted to.

The yearly PPV rate is over $500. If this supposed UFC network is the same price or less than our monthly PPVs...it is a good deal. The UFC has a large library of fights. All UFC, PRIDE and IFL fights are owned by the UFC. WEC too. That is a lot of fights. Not to mention all of their current programming could be moved to the network. TUF, UFC Unleashed, Coutdown, Primetime etc They would obviously create new programming as well. If this is available to all corners of America and also stays the same price or cheaper than we are already paying it will be great thing.

not to stray too far off topic here... But I'm fairly confident that the IFL properties are owned by Mark Cuban and his HDNet channel.

According to Mike Chiapetta of Fanhouse, he doesn't think this is Dana's big announcement.

I bet Dana is pissed...

I doubt he's pissed. I hit on this yesterday after PTI, actually. I think it's ONLY a good thing that ESPN feels the need to mention UFC on one of their top shows. Not that Wilbon or Kornheiser have anything to add, but if someone is going to spoil your surprise, I can't imagine that it's a bad thing that they did.
