The UFC has planned a press conference for Thursday starting at 1 p.m. ET with UFC president Dana White, and the news is said to be a “major” announcement.
ESPN’s popular Emmy award winning show Pardon The Interruption may have let the cat out of the bag a day early though. They announced on Wednesday that the UFC plans to start its own network.
“UFC is planning to start it’s own TV network,” said Pardon the Interruption co-host Michael Wilbon.
When asked if he was okay with the UFC starting its own network, PTI co-host Tony Kornheiser said, “I’ve got 75,000 networks on my cable system, certainly there’s room for even that.”
The UFC has made no official statement at this point regarding the announcement on Thursday outside of its shear magnitude. Although it’s own network isn’t a certainty for tomorrow’s the announcement, a new network dedicated and owned by the UFC would certainly fit the bill.

If they had network-only events, at least five times a year, I might be interested.

So are they just going to show re-runs all day and throw in a few live events? I dig mma as much as the next man, but I can't imagine paying a monthly fee for a channel that only shows new events three or four times a month.
I am slightly intrigued, but there would have to be a pretty huge expansion to make it worthwhile.

This. Unless it's included in my cable package, I doubt it would be worthy of a paid subscription.

They dont necessarly need to have ALL fights all day. They could buy the rights to some entertaining programming like the fight network here in Canada, I love the Brit shows like Bad Lads Army and Ross Kemp In Afghanistan.
But as for live fights, i think i'lll stick with HD net

I could see them re-running seasons of TUF, Unleashed, Primetime, etc. during down time. I think live events will be the key to its success, but where does this leave Spike? Does anyone know how long their contract is with Spike? Props if so.

TUF and previous UFC cards reruns, plus all the access all areas stuff. Maybe even fighter spotlights on.
Could be cool but then I doubt we will see it in the UK.

all I know is that the last time their contract ran from 2005-2008. So I would think it would make sense to be another 3 year contract. Which again would make sense if it expired in 2011 and then the brought in this "UFC Network"
