Following a unanimous-decision victory over Tito Ortiz at this past weekend's UFC 121 event, Matt Hamill is set for another step up in competition. As detailed in today's "MMA Insider" column in the "Dayton Daily News," UFC president Dana White said Hamill will get a "top-10" opponent in his next fight. Hamill, a three-time NCAA Division III national wrestling champion who joined the UFC after competing on "The Ultimate Fighter 3" in 2006, now owns a five-fight win streak in the organization. "I think we've got to get Matt a fight in the top 10 in the 205-pound division, which is obviously the meanest and nastiest division, as always," White said after the night's pay-per-view event, which took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. "I'm sure his next fight will be a top-10 opponent."

Haven't seen his fight against Tito yet, but I'm willing to bet not much has changed. Hamill vs. a decent wrestler who can strike = the end of that hype train

He looked rather resilient to an extent. Tito was doing pretty well in the first round, but Hamill ended up dominating.

Last time he fought a top guy he only won because of a DQ. I dont see him winning the next one.

That is definitely one thing I won't ever knock him on. Dude is tough as hell and definitely goes in there to give a fight. Plus, from the looks of it I will say in past fights he has looked strong as an ox. I just think from a technical standpoint he needs work that he'll never have in his game

Yeah, for the most part, he hasn't fought someone with great KO power. He has a tendency to keep his hands low, and I think that will come back to bite him once he gets to the higher levels of the 205 pound division. We already saw how he was overpowered by Jones.

Idk who is considered top 10 but I know fights that would be exciting for Hamill to fight.
Bonnar(if and prolly when he beats Igor), would be a war Brilz, equally matched Winner of Silva/Vera Krzy Sosz(if he beats Goran)
maybe Lil' Nog or Luiz Cane but I would doubt these.

Without quibbling over the exact order I've chosen here (which I spent about 10 seconds considering), who would you bump out of the UFC's Top 10 in favor of Hamill?
1. Shogun 2. Rashad 3. Machida 4. Rampage 5. Bader 6. Forrest 7. Couture 8. Franklin 9. Lil Nog 10. Jon Jones 11. Thiago Silva 12. Matt Hamill 13. Phil Davis 14. Brandon Vera 15. Alexander Gustafsson

LMAO, you aren't top 10 when your last 5 wins against opponents are-
Reese Andy (Cut from UFC, 0-2 in UFC) Mark Munoz (No longer at 205) Jon Jones (DQ Victory in which he got his ass absolutely handed to him) Keith Jardine (Decision, cut from UFC, was on 2 fight loss streak when he faced Hamill) Tito Ortiz (Coming off 3 losses and a draw soon to be cut from UFC)
No my friend, you aren't top 10- you are the definition of a hype train. Thanks for playing.

I think Hammill could replace couture, but personally i have Thiago Silva rounding out the top ten.
5 in a row with the last 2 being Jardine and Ortiz might actually just be enough to make an arguement for top ten considering how the bottom half of the top ten is losing every other fight.
