There definately needs to be some sort of regulated criteria for stand ups, now that everyone and their Mom is opening an MMA org...

the only time i think it should be stood up is if it is a stalemate on the ground and neither side is able to A. attempt submissions B. gnp C. better their position at the very least

This poll should read:
UFC referee Herb Dean is:
A) The worst ref for the sport today B) A great company man who does what he is told
I am not a conspiracy theorist in any way. George Bush did not make the towers fall. But I am beginning to agree with some of you that UFC management is trying to influence the outcomes of fights. This is bull. I am not trying to watch Hulk Hogan beat Andre the Giant. I want to see a fight. Dean's decision to stand Gonzaga up when he was beating on Cro-Cop was so obvious it was sickening. It was literally a one second lull in between punches and elbows.
Fans need to raise a stink about this before our favorite sport has more people dressing up like me in a luchador mask. If this is simply bad refing, get Herb some remedial training. He seems to be the #2 ref, and does not deserve that honor after this and other poor performances in the past.
