Matt Wiman (12-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and Cole Miller (17-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) are penciled in for the New Year.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the event that the lightweights have agreed to meet at UFC 125, though no paperwork is signed.

UFC 125 takes place Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and features a lightweight title match between champ Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard.

It's unknown whether Wiman vs. Miller will grace the event's televised main card.

Interesting fight, but not sure it makes sense right now though.

i figured cole was ready to take a bit of a step up in competition so this doesnt make a ton of sense to me either, other than the fact that people know both of them because they were on on TUF.

Exactly. The way he handled Ross Pearson led me to believe he was on to bigger things than Wiman. Then again, I do think that Wiman won that fight with Stout and he was on his way to a win against Danzig, so maybe it isn't as lateral of a move as I see it right now.

Good to see some TUF guys from the same season have some good UFC success, both with 6 ufc wins.

But I have to agree with thinking Miller was going to get a higher ranked opponent, no dis to wiman. I do think Miller will tool Wiman though, as Miller is much better I think in most areas.

I like the fight but don't agree with it
Miller needs a step up. Kurt pellegrino would be perfect
Or even sean sherk. And wiman. A rematch with spencer fisher would be nice
So I can see a repeat of one of the most nastiest finishes in the ufc

Wiman should dominate.
