Steve Cantwell is off the UFC 120 card less than 48 hours before it is due to start, having ripped a knee ligament in a BJJ training session on Thursday night (UK time).

Fighters Only was told on Friday morning that Cantwell has consulted medical staff but is clearly in no condition to compete and has had to be pulled from the bout with UFC debutant Stanislav Nedkov.

He cannot be replaced at this late stage; as there would be no time for a replacement to pass medical checks.

Should they be training that hard so close to the fight.

Who knows brotha... they could have just been lightly rolling and someone slipped or something. You never really know. I kind of doubt they were training super hard though. The way most fighters do it would point to the opposite being the case.

Yeah, some times it's the awkward soft stuff that gets you injured. In judo I never got injured because a black belt slammed my ass. I got hurt because of white belts that didn't know what they were doing when we were going at 50%.

Hell, I injured my knee just a few weeks ago by simply jumping up to dunk a basketball. No fancy moves, no contact with any other person, no intense game going on.. just me, by myself, jumping up and dunking while shooting hoops at the gym. You're right- sometimes the worst injuries are honestly over nothing.
