Former PRIDE light heavyweight luminary Murilo Rua's next fight will not be in the UFC Octagon, contrary to rumors pointing otherwise. The older brother of Mauricio Rua has signed with the W-1 promotion in Canada and will compete on the promotion's 10/23 event. His opponent will be Cesar Gracie-trained fighter Roy Boughton. Terms of Rua's deal were not disclosed but if Rua beats Boughton, then his next stop likely is UFC.

I'm kind of back and forth on Murilo joining the UFC. He has skills, don't get me wrong, but I just can't see him winning against the higher level fighters in the UFC. He's more of a middle bracket kind of fighter, used to weed out the amatuers and expeirenced. I enjoy seeing him fight, but when he faces big names he just can't make the jump from good to great, like his fights against Henderson, Arona, Randleman, Jackson, Kang, Lawler, and Radach. Honestly, I think he should go over to Bellator. He'd destroy the competition over there and capture the belt in no time.

I pretty much agree with you, but just to play devils advocate, everybody knows he really beat Rampage.

Anywho, I think he's a bit of an underachiever.

I don't think Ninja is much more than a Top-50 Middleweight, but if he wanted to give it the UFC a whirl, I wouldn't tell him not to try. I think he can hang with guys like Brian Stann and Dave Branch, but I wouldn't give him good odds on earning a title shot. Bellator or Strikeforce, I'd say.
