As it turns out, Vitor Belfort isn't injured. And, in fact, he's expected to meet UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva early next year, possibly in the headliner of a UFC 125 event on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas. Belfort had been scheduled to fight Yushin Okami in the headliner of November's UFC 122 event before a recent card change. Instead, as first reported by MMAWeekly, Okami now fights recent UFC Fight Night 22 winner Nate Marquardt. Although initially believed to be injured, Belfort is, in fact, healthy, according to a recent Twitter post from UFC president Dana White. Belfort now will bypass the No. 1 contender's bout at UFC 122 for an immediate title shot with Silva. UFC 125 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the night's main card airs on pay-per-view. The event currently needs a headliner, and Silva vs. Belfort certainly fits the bill.

I wonder how Okami is feeling after Belfort is given the chance to fight for the belt.

Oh well!

Makes for two GREAT fights!!

This is a huge fight for Belfort, lets hope the real Vitor shows up for this bout!

There's no doubt that when vitors at his best he's amazing. But when Andersons at his best he's the best in the world. Anderson shows up at his best in the majority of his fights. Vitor not so much.

Okami should be after Vitor then cause he does deserve it too, but I'd rather see Vitor fight Anderson than have an off night and lose to someone and never get the chance again. I'll pick him in this fight it will be awesome.

I like these fights better. I've been waiting to see Belfort and Silva go at it. Vitor gets the TKO and I think Nate takes Okami by decision.

I am excited for this fight, but I wish Vitor would have gotten another fight first to get his timing back. He will have been off for over 14 months by the time this fight takes place and they should a stat during the franklin/liddell fight that no fighter has won their UFC return after being off for 14 months or more. Granted it's just a stat, but I beleive it was a long list of good fighters too though. Octagon rust could be a bad thing, especialy enteringinto such a high caliber fight against one of the wrolds besdt fighters. I'll be pulling for Vitor regardless of the stat, but that fact will linger in my head when the fight does take place.

Im liking this fight. hopefully this fight happens. Vitor has so much hype right now, and he mostly deserves it by the way he finished two tough opponents last times he fought.

This should be a great fight, I think Silva will prove he's the best fighter in the world,
Vitor will help Silva showcase his jedi skills.

Maybe though, this could be a boring fight, where neither guy gets his range and timing down. I hope this doesnt turn into Cote vs Silva, a boring standup fight,

two counter strikers, can be boring when theres no punches to counter.

my guess is Soares forces Silva to withdrawl, eventhough Silva should win, proly needing more time to heal ribs.

I really don't understand the Belfort hype train. How can so many people favour him over Silva when his career in the last few years has been so mediocre? He knocked out Terry Martin (who gets KO'd a lot), knocked out Lindland (fights once every 1-2 years, sport passed him by years ago), and finished Franklin (also falls fairly easy). Anderson is by far the more dynamic striker and has just as devastating KO power, if not more.

On the Okami note, I think Okami's top control is one of the best and he has the stand up skills to hang in with Nate. I see Okami wnning in similar fashion to Chael Sonnen.
