A fighter many consider the most underrated – and under-appreciated – lightweight in MMA today finally will get the chance to prove he's world class. Antonio McKee is UFC bound. While the 40-year-old McKee's outspoken character consistently has drawn headlines throughout his 11-year pro career, he's piqued the UFC's interest with his most recent fights. Namely, his ability to finish them. After years of carrying the unofficial title of "world's most boring fighter," McKee, a former amateur wrestler, made a concerted effort to smash that mantle with two stoppage wins, including one that came just five days ago in front of HDNet cameras at MFC 26. "Mandingo" said he would retire if he couldn't finish PRIDE veteran Luciano Azevedo in exciting fashion, something HDNet analyst Guy Metzger doubted he could do. But he's not retiring-he's signed a 4 fight deal with UFC. No word yet on a debut date or foe.

Interesting. I think he was better as the big fish in a small pond, but we'll see. I think he'll be just another wrestler against the big dogs though.

Weird, I was talking about him getting a shot with WEC at least after his last win.
Did not realize he was 40+.

He's deserved this for a long time.

Yves vs McKee. About 6 years too late, but I wouldn't mind seeing it happen still.

I don't see him racking up very many wins in the UFC, in fact I see him retiring soon after his third UFC fight or so....either that or going back down to the little leagues to dominate with his LNP...I am so not sold!

Nobody wanted to see that fight six years ago. McKee was still a welterweight and no one wanted to see him fight anyone.

I don't think that's the point he was making. He's saying that both fighters were far better and in their prime six years ago. He's not saying people were clamoring for this fight to happen six years ago.
I for one would love to see Yves Edwards continue to have some success in the UFC and a fight with Antonio McKee would be a solid one.

They're just gonna drop political hammers and use him to boost their top guys. That's what the UFC does now. Look at what happened to Trigg.
But I like that we will see him fight top guys.
