A pair of light heavyweights looking to rebound from recent high-profile losses will likely meet in January in what could easily be viewed as a "must-win" for both contestants involved. UFC is reportedly targeting Thiago Silva vs. Brandon Vera for UFC 125, likely to be held on January 1. At least one fighter has agreed to the contest, paperwork pending.

I think Thiago should take this one easy but we will see. Hopefully it will make for an exciting fight.

I think Vera is the better fighter but I doubt that I will ever pick him against a decent fighter ever again. Vera should be able to take this fight anywhere he wants and that could be a problem for Silva. I think Silva's skill set is highly overrated, but he is a great finisher and a powerful striker, and his offensive boxing is very solid. The problem with that scenario is that Vera keeps distance well and is the superior grappler as well as kickboxer all things considered. Should be an exciting fight.

Great fight. Hard to pick. I don't think either guy's job should be on the line but you never know with the way the UFC has been cutting lately. I think this fight will be to see which one maintains contender or near-contender status.

I like this fight a lot. Thiago is a better fighter these days, but Vera may be able to pick him apart. Luiz Cane vs Vera would be a closer matchup. I hope all 3 fighters Vera, Silva and Cane can put some wins together.

I'll take Vera.

Ring rust (after dealing with a back injury, nonetheless) is a motherf*cker.

I was a huge Vera fan when he 1st burst onto the scene, but he has't been the same since that long layoff. Jon Jones tore through him with ease it seemed like. I like Thiago also but he isnt consistent at times. This is gonna be a good fight especially if its do or die for both guys. Hopefully they put on a show and i'll be sad to see one go but if i have to pick one, i think i'll pick Silva by Decision.

I still don't see Vera going even with a loss just yet, maybe one more fight after this one if he doesnt get this one. (Remember Jardine?) guy lasted forever.

I do however see this one going to Silva. Those heavy hands will catch Vera one time, when Vera goes to throw a leg kick.
Should be a great fight though.

I think Vera is by far the more skilled but I have no idea who to pick because Vera seems to have lost whatever he had going. Vera's best vs. Silva's best i pick Vera everytime but I'm not even sure his best still exists.
