A debate has raged over who would prevail if a boxer and a mixed martial artist fought since MMA was invented in the early 1990s. No one has been able to figure out how the old-school sweet science fits in with this new-age phenomenon. At UFC 1, a fighter competed wearing one boxing glove and one free hand. Ever since, the two sports have battled for fans, media attention and bragging rights.
The UFC, led by former boxer-turned-promoter Dana White, has flourished. “MMA is the king of the [expletive] right now,” Toney said, which is another reason he’s here. He’ll make an estimated $750,000 to $1 million Saturday. In boxing, “I can’t get no fights.”

its a shame so much money is being wasted on him....there should be a stipulation that IF Toney wins, then he can earn that much money.....but that money should go to fighters who deserve it.... i dont even think its going to make an PPV record dents or anything....Lesnar is still a bigger draw

tHAT IS UFED UP. Dw didnnt even want Toney, but now Toney is making two to 3 times Lesnar money!!! It seems like UFC fighters have no value, but boxers do in UFC? Is it star power? Get Mickey Rourke or Russel Crow in there, I feel bad for the artists who are more skilled in martal arts, but will only make $7,000.00 --- 100 times less.

Is Boxing not a Martial Art? Yes it has everything to do with his drawing power I question how much of a cross over effect it will have since its not like Toney is the most loved man in Boxing. I think it is safe to say that James Toney is more accomplished at Boxing then Brock ever was at Wrestling. Lucky for Brock Wrestling itself usually will take you farther in MMA then most of the other arts. The UFC feels that this fight will pull in Boxing fans and they will see what we all see in MMA and jump on the wagon and that has everything to do with why he is here and why he is making so much money.
