Spencer Fisher was arrested after a minor incident and has already been released after posting bail, but the UFC fighter's manager expects the charges will be dropped. Earlier this week, Fisher was arrested on a charge of interfering with an official's duties, and he immediately posted $300 bail and was released on his own recognizance. Mickey Dubberly of KO Dynasty today said the incident resulted from Fisher double-parking while picking up his daughters from school. The arrest took place Tuesday in Fisher's hometown of Bettendorf, Iowa. "Spencer went to pick up his daughters from school, and he doubled parked because there were no other parking spaces available," Dubberly stated. "The police asked Spencer to move his car, and Spencer stated he would only be a second. The police asked him again to move his car, and Spencer kept proceeding to pick up his daughters from school." That's when Fisher was arrested. He posted the $300 bail soon after. Dubberly doesn't expect any additional problems due to the incident.

Well, there were obviously 2 spaces available so why the need to take up both?

Minor or not, the excuse makes no sense.

Double parking means he parked adjacent to a parking spot, blocking someone else in.

My bad! Of all the scenarios I went over in my head trying to figure out how he parked, this one never crossed my mind.

Thanks for the clarification.

lol when I saw "300 dollars bail" in the little description box I laughed and said:

"what the **** was that a parking ticket?"

I guess it was.

The article lost me at "he immediately posted $300 bail and was released on his own recognizance."

If you post bail then you haven't been released on your own recognizance. ROR means that you don't need to post bail, the judge trusts you enough to let you leave knowing that you'll be back for your day in court.

Unless you're denied bail, you can get yourself out of jail. That does NOT mean you were released on your own recognizance.

I get what they're saying, but ROR isn't what they think it is. At least not in the criminal court system.

Even if the charges aren't dropped, he probably would only get a small fine if convicted, liekly no more than a grand or two.

Also found this on CP:

I've never heard of some one being arrested for double parking, I think there must be more to the story, or that's one jerky cop.

I agree with the post above mine. Why an arrest for double parking? Maybe Spencer got a little feisty with the cops? I don't want to over speculate but it seems like there could be more to it.

Either way, sounds like a dick move by the officer. If someone says, 'ya sorry, I'll only be a minute'. Just leave the guy alone.

UHH....Yeah...We're gonna need you to come downtown with us on saturday!!......This is a total BS case. This kind of **** is why cops get a bad rep. There is the "letter" of the law and then the "color" of the law. Cmon a guy double parked in front of the liquer store is one thing. A guy double parked runnin in to get his kids is a completely different situation!!! Good luck to Spencer and hopfully it all gets dropped.
