link Semmy Schilt, current holder of the K-1 World Grand Prix belt and the only man ever to win three consecutive K-1 Grand Prix, is in talks with the UFC about joining the heavyweight division, according to several Dutch forums.

He'd get owned IMO. I know he's fought MMA before, but it's just such a different landscape nowadays. I'm sure there's some winnable fights out there for him (Struve being the most prominent name that comes to mind) probably Kongo, too. But against a huge and powerful wrestler like Brock or Carwin it could get pretty ugly.

I think a fight against JDS would be really interesting, though. JDS hasn't shown a willingness to do anything but strike for the most part. That could be a bad move against someone with Schilt's pedigree. No matter how good of a boxer JDS is.

I love Semmy, I love K1, I think K1 is teh most beautiful fight sport in the world. But in the UFC Semmy would get killed by the wrestlers.

Schilt obviously feels disrespected by K-1, and K-1 would be glad to let go of their dominant and unpopular kickboxer.

He won't be winning any belts in the UFC, but I don't think he'd be dummied around by everybody at heavyweight.

id love to see semmy back in the ufc. a fight with either of the guys already mentioned(struve and JDS) would be fun to watch. brock, cain, and carwin would all be really bad matchups for him, but id like to see him against some of the guys one step down from that group.

It would be an interesting addition and could create some good match ups with the strikers of the division, but I have to agree with Jackelope in that he'd be pwnt by any decent wrestler.

Fights with JDS, Kongo, Streuve, Cro Cop, Barry, etc. would be interesting.

I had this on a fantasy fight card game in my camp, everyone thought it was a good match up for Sem. I also think he would be tooled by the good wrestlers in the Hw div.

I look at like this; it can't hurt the HW division worse than bringing in Toney.

Now that could be cool, when Toney losses have him fight Schilt!

Actually that would be an amazing fight. By all means the 6'40" true heavyweight kickboxer should win, but that would be a classic boxer vs. kickboxer matchup right there that I would like to see.

Reminds me of when Marcus Davis fought Paul Taylor and kickboxing straight tooled the boxer. Even though Davis won that fight he was getting his ass handed to him in the process.

As I'm thinking more and more about this I think it would be a great addition to the UFC's heavyweight roster. Struve is winnable, Crocop is winnable, JDS is winnable, Toney is winnable, Kongo is winnable (although Kongo has shown a tendency to want to take people down) and even some other matches are winnable. I'd really like to see Semmy end what has been an amazing career on a stint in the UFC.

I would love this, as a fan of K-1, having the best K-1 fighter in the world right now in UFC would be amazing. That big jab, along with his classic knee from the clinch would be trouble for anyone who tries to stand with him. He wouldn't make the top tier IMO though, because of all of the dominate wrestlers, but I think his ground game would surprise some folks on how solid it is.
