The planned Bellator Lightweight Title fight between champion Eddie Alvarez & challenger Pat Curran at Bellator 33 is now being changed to a non-title match between Alvarez & Roger Huerta. Curran suffered a shoulder or arm injury in training and won't be ready for the October fight date.

Win-win for Bellator. They get the fight they probably wanted from the start, and Pat Curran will still get a title fight down the road.

that is a fight worthy of a top tier card, man I wish the UFC would have scooped up Alvarez, I know competition is good and all of the crap but good talent is plain wasted outside of the UFC, too few of fights and in Japan's half of them do not even get paid.

Did Huerta become the number 1 contender after knocking out Rashad Bobino? TMZ just vaulted Huerta into a title fight!

No they didn't. It's a NON-TITLE match.

I've been dreading this. I found out about a week and a half ago about Pat but we were all hoping he'd still be able to fight.
It's been a while since I was in the gym so this is actually the first I've heard of it.

I get why they ended up with Huerta, but didnt Toby Imada go further into the tournament, and arguably won the fight against Pat Curran?
Ho-hum, I'll favor Alvarez anyway.

Watch Joe, show why he is a true warrior when he defeats Huerta! He has shown up until now, why he will be champion soon enough. Huerta is just another pot hole along the journey. Warren has done so much in so little time. He may not be Mr Knock Out, but he at least continues to move, and punch, and doesn't stop. He has what every MMA fighter should have in an MMA game. He was only stopped by Bibano, and IMO he didn't even tap.

I'm at a loss. Joe is good dude, different weight class. I can't help but feel like I'm being sucked into a trolljob.
Either way, I love this matchup.
