The majority of the fighters who competed on the Impact Fighting Championships' two scheduled July MMA events in Australia have not been paid by the promotion. The list of unpaid fighters includes Karo Parisyan, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Jesse Taylor and Brian Ebersole.

Although most commissions require that fighters be paid before the promoter leaves the arena the night of the show (some even hold onto and distribute the money themselves) none of the men who fought on either show received checks before flying home from Australia. A handful of them have since received partial payment – the most being 75% of what was owed, however most of the fighters we spoke to have yet to receive a dime, despite multiple phone calls they have made and emails they have sent to promoters Tom Huggins and Andrew McManus asking that they be paid.

Not too surprised, I hear the marketing guy figured since the UFC in Australia ended up selling out - that they could do the same thing with a couple of local talent + UFC veterans. Oh, and they are without the branding power of the UFC.

Not surprised one bit. Didnt have high PPV numbers nor a good gate.

You have to do more than just go "Oh hey, UFC 110 sold out - if we just give them a show in the area we could do the same thing".

A sad combination of fans that can only read three letters and promoters who think they'll be rich after one event.

You know its one thing if a guy goes to work and and they boss says we had some problems I don't have your pay I promise to get it to you I just need a few days. But when a man walks into a fenced in cage with nothing but a jock boardshorts and a 5 oz pair of gloves on the proceeds to either beat another man till his hands hurt or get beat by another man till their hands hurt, I think the least the guy could do is make sure at all cost he has their money waiting in the locker room.

Memo to Future wanna be MMA Promoters these are trained fighters you are dealing with one day when you jack them around and don't pay them on time you are going to get what is coming to you and I for one will not shed a tear for you.

They will probably file bankrupt and get the fighters and event staff paid that way. Pop up promotion, especially now because the fighters will spread the word that the org doesn't pay you.

Anyone else have a feeling we'll be reading things similar to this after Shark fights?

HAHA, that has to be the shortest ban in the history of the Playground.

To the TS, this is unfortunate on all levels. It sucks to pour your blood, sweat, and tears into something and not get what is promised to you. Impact needs to find away to borrow against their debt before they fold. Those that did the work ought to be paid.

I actually think they can afford this, at least one big show, none of the guys should be asking for more than $50k.....I think they can handle one. Now if they try and put up another I smell an Affliction style meltdown.
