Former light heavyweight champions Lyoto Machida and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson are expected to meet at an as of yet unannounced event in the fall, possibly in November.

The fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com as being in the works by sources close to the bout, and Jackson himself posted on his Twitter account that he was issued a bout agreement for a fight and was about to sign it late Tuesday evening.

Thank you so so so so much Joe Silva. Lyoto will impress this time by easily dispatching, or frustrating the hell out of Rampage. 19 out of 20 times Lyoto dominates this fight.

Does anyone think Rampage has a chance here? and why if so?

^^ I think Lyoto will probably win by decision but Rampage definetly has a chance.

if Rampage sits back and trys to counter like he usually does Lyoto will pick him apart unless Rampage lands that big punch, If Rampage goes back to mixing it up and using his wrestling to take Lyoto down and when both are standing Rampage needs to cut the cage by circling Lyoto near the cage and then get aggresive and throw the hands or push Lyoto up on the cage. The question is though will Rampage go back and use his wrestling and even though it would be great for Rampage to mix up his striking & wrestling I don't think he will.

I'd rather know why you think Rampage has no chance? He's probably one of the best LHW fighters of all time, and you think he has no chance. That is more curious to me than thinking Rampage has a chance. I'd put this at near even odds or slightly favoring Machida.

I'll be looking foward to this fight because I think it's an interesting matchup, and I really think either one of these guys could end up with their hand raised.

Rampage can definitely win this fight. The guy hits harder than anybody int he division and has the best chin on the planet...well Mike Russow might be in the mix too. Nonetheless if Rampage can catch Lyoto with one then he can do some serious damage. I felt like he could have/should have finished Rashad when he had him hurt but was throwing a ton of iladvised shots and not targeting any particular area on the chin. I think the ring rust will be gone, he won't be nearly as out of shape as the last fight (I realize he said he was in great shape, but that is just way too much weight to get off in too short a period of time and it showed), and I feel like he will be more aggressive. Now, all that being said Lyoto will be more tactical than ever before and 100%. He didn't reinjure the hand in the last fight so he should be confident enough to throw it and I see him jumping in and out all night. This fight has the makings of Rampage vs. Forrest 2 just with less action, but it also has the potential to be explosive so we will see.

This fight has decision written all over it, Lyoto will most likely win this fight by picking apart Jackson, however I could see Rampage winning this fight by using his aggressive style and landing some big shots.

Rampage is one of the all time great counter punchers, as long as he comes into this fight in reasonable shape, he should walk through anything Machida has to offer and land those big counters. I actually think that it's a bad match-up for Machida, I expect Rampage to sit and counter Machida, Machida is going to have to win this fight with his knees if he wants to win, because he is going to have to hurt Rampage because dipping in and out with cute combos won't work on Rampage. I like Rampage by late first round KO.

Machida could decision Rampage but i'm leaning towards a KO for Rampage. 15 minutes is a long time for Machida to be dodging Rampage's hands. All Rampage has to do is connect once and this fight is over.

i really want to see this fight but not right now....i hate to see fights where if one fighter loses then it really hurts them and possibly career ending....if machida loses he will retire and if rampage loses no telling of what he'll do

I can see Rampage winning by throwing an accurate counter if Machida starts throwing in volume.

If Machida sticks to his style then he should win fairly easy with speed and strikes from the outside. If he starts trading like he did with Shogun and Rashad he could get knocked out again.
