Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will get another crack at regaining the title if he can get past Fabricio Werdum this weekend at UFC 70, according to statements from UFC President Dana White in a conference call yesterday.

He will face whoever wins the UFC 74 match between current beltholder Randy Couture and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic/Gabriel Gonzaga that is slated for August 25.

Arlovski title shot

I dont think Arlovski should look to far ahead at this point, Werdum will be a though fight, but Im confident he will win. When AA starts looking to far ahead he loses hs focus and starts losing fights.

Tbh I think he is just gonna end up hitting a brick wall with CC later on anyway, but right now Im hoping he will take out Werdum.

I'm hoping that Arloski wins, but I agree that you can't look to far ahead. But you can train certain ways to do good against future opponents. Look at Munsons training for Silvia, avoiding punches and stuff like that....but bad example because Munson fought horribly in that fight. Get me?

He needs to get past Werdum first, who's a good fighter...then start worrying about CC. Even if he does happen to beat Werdum, I don't think he can hang with CC anyways...

Yeah, CC is one of the best fighters in the games, and I would be willing to put alot of money on him. But I gave up on predicting easy matches like this when Serra dominated GSP. Arlovski's a pitbull and I think it will be hard for CC to back him down.

I hope he gets past Werdum so I can possibly see a great fight with either Randy or Crocop. Alot of people seem to count Randy out when or if he fights crocop but the octagon is still a new surrounding to Crocop. But if Arlovski ever becomes champ again I certainly hope Sylvia won't be the #1 contender lol

I hope he gets past Werdum because I have alot of money riding on him. Title fight with him in it would be good too.
