Class dismissed for "The Dean Of Mean". UFC veteran Keith Jardine has been cut today following his TUF 11 Finale loss to Matt Hamill, his 4th straight. He's gone 6-7 since being a contestant on TUF 2, but Dana White hopes he'll be back someday.

That's too bad. I enjoyed watching him. This type of situation is exactly the reason why I wish there were more UFC cards on free TV. UFC is primarily a pay per view business. That's how it started anyway. So only the elite of the elite can stay there, which can make for a very short UFC career. It takes a long time to get inside the UFC and you can get fired pretty quick. If the UFC had something like a weekly UFC Fight Night card, then young guys on their way up wouldn't be getting paid peanuts in regional promotions, and older but exciting veterans like Keith Jardine could still fight in the UFC instead of having to consider retirement or much smaller paychecks. Living the life of a fighter can really be an unforgiving experience if you're not at the very top of the food chain.

It is probably good for his career at this point to get some wins under his belt. Since the UFC doesn't seem willing to match him up with easier opponents, I hope he gets some wins in a regional and comes back. Won't be surprised if he gets signed by Strikeforce though, they will take anyone they can get at 205.

and he's the type of fighter who can shock the world from time to time so he might do well in strikeforce.
I'd love to see him move to strikeforce. He always throws down.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that he cuts easily. The UFC might be concerned with their image and trying to get sanctioned in other states. You would think wins against Vera, Chuck and Forrest would be enough to keep him around. I think it's good news for SF they now have a decent LHW to add to the mix.

I think it has more to do with the fact that he hasn't won a fight since 2008.

4 straight losses, he really had no choice. But Kieth is tough and I still believe world class. He's never been dominate except for quick knock outs. No one has ever technically out classed Kieth IMO.
I hope he doesn't go to SF because I think that would hurt his chances of getting back into the UFC. I think two wins would be enough for Dana to bring him back. He's exciting, a fan favorite, and has some real good wins on his resume.

I knew this was coming, as did most people, but it does suck for Keith. He fought everyone they asked him to fight. Won some, lost some, but at the end of the day, Fleek is right. He hasn't won in almost 2 years. Can't have that.

i would love to see Keith in SF. That's the thing I love about having a promotion like them around. They may not be the promotion considered to have all the stacked talent such as the UFC,but this opens up the 205 division a little more outside of the UFC and I personally feel will make for some great matches for him.

If Keith wants paid kinda like he's used to, he almost has to go to SF right. Unless he wants to go to Japan? I think it is almost a certainty that he signs with Coker and Co.

not surprised. he's always had exciting fights but with his record its hard for the ufc to justify keeping him.
best of luck to him wherever he goes from here!
