A welterweight bout destined for fireworks is now official for the UFC's first trip to Boston.
The promotion today confirmed Marcus Davis (17-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) vs. Nate Diaz (12-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) for the pay-per-view portion of UFC 118, which takes place Aug. 28 at Boston's TD Garden. A lightweight title rematch between newly crowned champion Frankie Edgar and the recently deposed B.J. Penn headlines.

interesting. i'd love to see Davis win this but have no idea who i'd pick. If it goes to the ground it's diaz all day. he might try to bang and davis should be able to pick that diaz style apart all day long.

As much as I dislike the guy, I won't pick against Diaz in this fight.

Diaz will land about 1000 punches and finish with a choke much like the Markham fight. I do expect Diaz to get hit more this time.

Diaz reach didn't help him in his stand up against Guillard. He swore his boxing was going to be superior and then once he started getting beat up he didn't the smart thing and realized he was going to lose if he really tried to stand and strike the whole time.

Surprised everyone is all over Diaz. I think Davis has more than a fair chance to win this one. I'll save my reasons why for my camp.

Blue, if I remember correctly, the latest Diaz fight against Guillard ended via sub, because Melvin took down Diaz, not the other way around. I don't remember the fight well enough to say whether Diaz was getting beat up or not, and I'm not about to look it up. I'm just throwing out the ending there....
I like Diaz. I know this sounds lame, but anyone that can be that lanky and still manage to have some form of power over his opponents is very technically stable.

Guillard is a different type of fighter than Davis, that's not even a fair comparison. Davis does not match-up well with Diaz. Davis is going to struggle with the height and reach of Diaz, and if he takes Diaz down he's putting himself in the strength of Diaz. Aside from a flash knockout, I don't see Davis winning this.

I'm confused, why are you telling me that? I didn't make a comment about Guillard?
MaxOne did, however.

Tough fight to pick here. Nate Diaz will probably look to take it to the ground against Marcus Davis. I really think that Marcus has the striking advantage in this one. His striking is just better than Markhams who lets not forget was out of action for almost a year. We all know what ring rust will do to a fighter. Not sure who I'm picking as of yet but this is a closer fight than most are predicting.
