This past week's "Strikeforce: Los Angeles" event on Showtime peaked with nearly 200,000 viewers for a 195-pound catchweight headliner between winner Renato "Babalu" Sobral and opponent Robbie Lawler. Overall, the event averaged 164,000 viewers. Peak audiences coincided with Tim Kennedy's submission win over Trevor Prangley (196,000 viewers) and the Sobral vs. Lawler fight (197,000 viewers). However, with few big names on the card and Strikeforce's rare mid-week airing, ratings were on the low side for the organization. Other recent Strikeforce events have all scored bigger audiences, including Strikeforce Challengers 8 on May 21 (294,000), "Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery" on May 15 (308,000) and Strikeforce Challengers 7 (316,000) on March 26.

200k viewers on a Wednesday Night is still pretty decent.

I thought so at first too, but to put it in perspective.

A re-run of Criminal Minds pulled in 8 Million more viewers.

Strikeforce even had 4 million less viewers than the 20th ranked Cable show, Spongebob Truth or Square.

But SF is also available in only a fraction of households compared to broadcast TV & cable. And at the time of night it aired most people that are up are watching news anyway.

Showtime could have improved its ratings by starting the show an hour earlier.

They instead aired "Inside Nascar" and a rerun of Fedor vs Rogers.

I'd hope for a better lead-in than a re-run of a previous show.

Basically they are struggling to even attain WEC numbers which aren't all that great themselves.
