Robbie Lawler has consistently been considered one of the most dangerous middleweights in the world with the ability to put any opponent out with just one punch. But as the middleweight approaches his upcoming main event fight against Renato "Babalu" Sobral on June 16, he has decided to switch things up and travel to Arizona.
Normally a mainstay at the HIT Squad gym with longtime friend Matt Hughes, Lawler got a call from UFC middleweight Aaron Simpson, who also fights next week, asking for some help. The heavy-hitter native of California was happy to oblige.
"Well, I got an opportunity. One of the fighters I'm training with is fighting a southpaw, so he called me and was like 'hey can you come out?' And I'm like, ‘yeah, you guys got a lot of good wrestlers.’ Went out there, these guys work very hard," Lawler said about his training camp.

Sounds like a good move for both. Simpson gets training against a banger in prep for Leben and Lawler gets training against a guy that wants to take him down (and is a lot better at doing it then Babalu will be).

Great move for Lawler and Simpson. Lawler gets some of the best takedown artists in the game and Simpson gets to work with one of the best strikers in the game.

Wow this worked out great for both guys!! Each guy was the other's opponent in thier up coming matchs. I think Lawler will benifiet a bit more, but either way its cool. I wonder how many more fights Robbie has on his contract with SF?? i would love to see him back in the UFC. He is still a young guy and ever improving. I would like to see Robbie move away from the Hit squad. Not that i dont think those guys are qualified. Its basicly the old MFS team and diversity in training makes for better fighters. Robbie has been with those guys since he started. Maybe a new scene in Arizona will do him a wealth of good.

It is tomorrow it is in line with some EA expo. Since Strikeforce has worked very close with EA and the new game they wanted to package it all up but I guess the Expo will be over by the weekend.
