As expected young heavyweight prospect Stefan Struve (19-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) meets promotional newcomer Christian Morecraft (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in August at UFC 117.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently passed along news of the expected bout, and its since been signed and officially added to UFC 117's un-aired preliminary card.

UFC 117 takes place Aug. 7 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. The night's main card, including a headliner of middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, airs on pay-per-view.

As I said when this was "unofficially" official, Morecraft better work on his ground game. Struve might not be known for it but it's a glaring weakness of Morecraft's that Struve's camp could choose to hone in on.

He's show that he can, though. I know he likes to strike, just saying it would be wise to do so. Either way, even if Morecraft lands a punch that puts him on his back Struve has already shown us he can submit from the bottom.

Struve is a great prospect. Huge reach, good strikes, suppossedly great jits!? He doesnt seem to have the gas tank to feed that big frame of his though. I want to see this ground game i have heard so much about!! I will probably pick him, but not betting thats for sure!!

He used his ground game against Gormley and Stojnic. And if those two don't satisfy, go to the video section and look at his fight with Mario Neto. He gets an arm triangle on Neto from behind, and it's beautiful.

As for the gas tank, he's been in two wars with Stojnic and Buentello. The kid is putting on muscle mass every camp and looks better, aside from the Roy fight.

I don't think he had much of a chance to look bad in his fight with Roy, either, haha, it was over too quickly.

I put what I said in a previous post..

If Morecraft knows how to throw an overhand right he should be able to put Struve away.

Struve really lacks any technique standing. He is 6'11 and has a mile long reach yet doesnt have a jab. He threw a flying knee across the cage against Buentello and Paul cracked him in the face (much like AA vs. Fedor), he just doesnt really have the instincts on the feet. However I do feel that he has a better chin than he probably gets credit for considering the shots that put him down/out.

His offensive ground game is good, and likes to work double wrist control (if I remember correctly) and a thing about that is you need one helluva vice grip to really be affective (think Nogueira), but even then, you will take a ton of ground and pound if you do that. Stojnic battered him with GNP and Struve ultimately had to come from behind to win against Stojnic.

I havent seen much of Morecraft so I am unsure who to pick, put if Morecraft can just sort of come forward and throw an overhand right, Struve hasnt really found a way to defend against it.

Ignorant statement.

He's lost by TKO or KO twice in his 20+ fight career. You need to do research on what it means to have a "glass chin". If Struve has one then every fighter who has ever lost via KO or TKO has one.

I like both of these fighters. I just think this match-up favors Struve. Morecraft is a decent striker but I'd say Struve still has the advantage in that department and, while neither fighter really has one, I'd still say Struve has the advantage in the ground game.
