UFC officials today announced that UFC On Versus 2, originally planned to be held in Salt Lake City, has been moved to San Diego. According to a UFC press release just put out, Dana White says the reason is poor ticket sales. "Our television ratings in Salt Lake City have always been strong, and when we finally found the opportunity to bring a UFC event there with a great card, I was very surprised and disappointed in ticket sales," he stated. "As a result, for the first time in UFC history, I decided to pull the plug and move this Aug. 1 event to the San Diego Sports Arena." However, Bill Colbert of the Pete Suazo Utah Athletic Commission could only speculate on the reason. "They didn't give a particular reason," he said. "I imagine that it has to do with the demographics and ticket sales. Having an event on Sunday may work for a (NBA's Utah) Jazz game, but it's not going to work for an MMA event. " "It's not the best news we've had in a while." Nearly half of Utah's residents are members of the Mormon Church, which traditionally uses Sundays (on which UFC on Versus 2 falls) as its worship day. Fans who purchased tickets already can return them for refunds.

San Diego will sell out quickly. Big time fight fans in San Diego. Also one of the greatest cities on the face of the earth. I've been to a lot of different cities all over the world and I have no doubt about San Diego's quality.

I've spent quite a bit of time in SD and have met a ton of fans. I'm always hanging around the Mission Beach area so maybe it's the transplants that I'm running into. Last time I was there I spent some time at City Boxing and Throwdown Elite right by the arena and the strip clubs over there Spent some time at Hustler's having a Guinness on lunch too

LOL Never really personally had too much of a problem on Mission Beach with dudes getting violent. I've definitely seen some brawls escalate there, though. I usually spend a couple of weeks a year in San Diego. I mostly chill on the beach, watch football games at Lahaina's, and go to house parties at night. Everyone is usually very cool there. Although the bums can sometimes be out of control. I was once eating one of those huge slices of pizza by the roller coaster and a bum just walked up and pissed on the window of the pizza joint. Fricken' hilarious.
Not sure if I'll ever be hitting up the clubs again when I'm there but if you say they're quality I'll take your word for it and check 'em out next time I get a chance to escape the lady friend

Yeah I've been to Coronado before, too. I like it but the beaches aren't as fun there IMO. The hotel is amazing and checking out the ships on the base was fun, too. Plus that whole bridge is a trip. I can't imagine someone jumping off that thing to commit suicide. That's a long way down, lol

Well, Salt Lake fans screwed up there. I doubt they will see a live UFC event anytime within the foreseeable future.
